 The Whine Report September 2017

We are still waiting to close on the house in Idaho. I haven’t packed a single box yet. Nope not a one. What’s the holdup right?  Well, we’ve lived in our home 35 years. That’s A LOT OF STUFF (you KNOW I want to use the other word though right??) So, what if I clean pack and stack and for some unknown reason we don’t close on the house.  I know, weak excuse but it’s the best I have right now. I’m still so torn about moving. My kids! Alice! PACKING!! Then, yes I start to think about me time………… I could read a book. A REAL BOOK!! One that isn’t written for a first grader. A REAL BOOK!!! I could actually have a day where I didn’t have to leave my house?!  So, yes I am still one great big ball of emotional stress.  Next month October 16th to be precise we will either close on the house and I’ll have to actually pack a box or ten thousand or I’ll settle back into my daily routine of Alice, writing and occasionally crafting.

Mom’s hip is healing nicely. She is back here at home with us. She had 20 days in the convalescent home and now has in home therapy. Did you know that Medicare will actually cover an MD to come to the house for a home health check?!?! I had no idea!! I did get a teeeny tiny little bit of revenge for when Mom was in loopy land with the meds and she was mean to me. I had the doctor give her a flu-shot. That made me happy. Ma? Not so much.

Okay, that’s about it for the Whine Report this month!! How is YOUR day going!?!

Are kids a little dumber these days?? In my day, if you wanted to hit the same house twice on Halloween you changed up the costume a little & you at least hid the candy that they gave you the first time, lolol. I know at least 3 came by here twice. One had the empty Giant Pixie Stick laying on top of her pumpkin bucket, lmbo!! Oh, well, I had plenty. I guess kids still like those huge pixie sticks.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE ! It’s a terrific day today and I’m excited about seeing my grandkids later all dressed up in their costumes. 🙂

  • michele

Happy Samhain….All Hallows Eve.. or just plain Halloween… love them all….Planted my blue lake string beans into the grow bed this morning and thats it for the day….tomorrow is a big outside work day….

  • Kimmy Ripley

My day today is just over the top FABULOUS! I live for Halloween! My little family is a herd of rainbow unicorns this year. We are having the time of our lives in our colorful costumes.
My daughter’s 8th birthday is December 18th. I would love to win so I could buy her some cute emoji stuff on Amazon. Thanks for the chance!

  • CJ

Happy Halloween my fellow PB&Whiners! I am not doing anything today. I am just going to eat candy. Read my book. Eat candy. Watch TV. Eat candy. Play with my dogs. Eat candy….

  • Kate Sarsfield

It’s a day for outside jobs today, replacing light bulbs & cleaning gutters, but I have to wait till my sister or niece get here to hold the ladder. They’re already an hour late but I’ve plenty of chores to keep me busy till they get here.

  • Terri S.

My day is going really great. I saw the sun rise and thanked God for another day. My phone was down due to a heavy rain and windstorm. But, that was okay – it’s nice to have quiet. I finished all my fall cleaning finally. I watched the beautiful sunset – it always amazes me.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Today I finished my to-do list for October 🙂 Happy days (how sad am I )! I love the satisfaction of crossing items off my lists – feels like I’ve actually achieved something with my time. November here I come …

  • Tamra Phelps

It’s still freezing here in KY. But it is supposed to warm up slightly in a few days–back into the 60’s!! Halloween is going to be cold, though, & I get to sit at the open door for 2 hours, lol. Yay me, lol.

  • michele

So it is Monday again and it is raining… well it is a planting day according to the lunar gardening calendar so off I go to plant seeds….trying something new that my husband did and I am following his notes for hydroponics…..vermiculite with some coconut husk shredded in net pots…..then sitting in a water bath…..

  • Kate Sarsfield

Today has been an odds & ends kind of day. I am the world’s worst for not finishing things. I call it multi-tasking, the rest of them call it ‘getting distracted’ or even ‘losing focus’. So today was spent finally putting away the pots of paint etc. I used back in the summer, sorting out a wardrobe so that I can put away new clothes (not mine, unfortunately!), getting rid of out-of-date dried spices & herbs that no-one uses, fixing the bird table, putting the right CDs & DVDs into their proper covers … that sort of thing.

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, I wish I was as productive as Michele, & had done all that baking. You know what I did? I spent today binge-watching The Great British Baking Show on Netflix, lol. I watched other people bake.

  • michele

Today was my ” no work” day.. so I only did what I love baking….made Italian rolls, semolina bread, whole wheat bread, chocolate truffles for my dear daughter ( even though I do not really like making candy) and a Fright Cake….great recipe on Taste of Home… a white cake with a cream cheese – whipped cream frosting and a strawberry-raspberry top…..now it is time to sit my you know what down and do NOTHING…..

  • Tamra Phelps

I hate cold weather. I used to love Winter. I loved watching it snow. But now I just can’t take the cold, lol. Also, as a kid, I didn’t have to pay the heating bills, so that might be coloring my perception of Winter a little! Ha!

    • michele

Tamra so did I love the snow and the cold even though it was just New Jersey cold and snow but by the time I was 40 I said no more…..time to head for a warm climate…..stay warm kiddo…..

  • Kate Sarsfield

I completely forgot that it’s a long weekend in Ireland plus the children are on mid-term break. Town was crazy so I gave up all hopes of doing the weekly shop, just grabbed a few essentials and came home. Oh, and the clocks go back tonight as well so Michele, if you’re reading this, I claim no responsibility whatsoever for my wonky body clock!

  • michele

Worked outside with as much energy and heart as I could…..I feel tired and tomorrow will be a true Sunday.. rest, relax and except for baking a no-work day……

  • michele

No painting today.. worked outside.. pruned trees and re-organized the garage work bench to suit me…..found all these fertilizers and weed and insect-pest killers…have to read the paperwork and see what to keep and what to discard…..Today would have been my 47th wedding anniversary…..what can I say…..I miss him so much and promised me 75 years of marriage……

    • Kate Sarsfield

Ah Michele, it must be so hard. Like they say, love hurts, doesn’t it, and yet we wouldn’t have it any other way. Well, I’ll raise a glass or two to celebrate what you did have together.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Michele, you’ll be relieved to know that last night I managed 9 hours sleep! The sun was shining so out into the garden I went to finally finish weeding & mulching for the winter. All that’s left to do now is to prune the roses & attack a bramble/nettle patch.

    • michele

Great news Kate…..now you have to try and manage a full days activities whatever they might be then a nights sleep maybe from 11-12 to 6-7am…. you will feel rejuvenated and ready for a days work ahead…. Kate you need sleep and not just every once in awhile every night!!!

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, I’ve turned on a few space heaters but I refuse to turn the actual heat on yet! I’d rather be a little chilly than pay a huge electric bill next month, lol. It’s supposed to get back up into the 60’s tomorrow, so maybe we’ve still got a few nice days before the chill turns to ice.

  • michele

Had a great morning.. painted again.. am I getting redundant??? Also did some yard work…. my bachelor buttons and giant sunflowers and morning glories are coming up.. I am so happy about that.. going to transplant soon….time for wine and relaxation…..

    • Tamra Phelps

I love sunflowers! We had one that just came up out of nowhere one year. No idea why. We didn’t plant it. It was huge. Taller than any of us, lol.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Let’s see, today has been quite good so far: I managed to get up early after about 3 hours sleep & took Mum into town to a new coffee shop & then pushed her around a supermarket for a bit. It’s been a couple of years since she was even in a supermarket and she was ooing & ahing at all the new products on the shelves! Then we went to a car wash – such excitement! She’s now napping while I’m playing catch up on chores.

  • michele

Well I took 3 cans of not so much left paint.. dumped them in white and created something I called Classy Cream….just enough to paint the bedroom hallways… I still cannot believe that I am doing all this painting and never painted before in my life.. I am loving it !! Tomorrow the bathroom with a hi glass white with a tinge of blue…..

  • Kate Sarsfield

This getting up early lark is wearing me out! Problem is I’m still wide awake till dawn. Perhaps I should just stay up, do all the housework after midnight when the electricity is cheaper, then go to bed after lunch! Humm, food for thought.

  • Tamra Phelps

I’m just hanging out here with my 8 year-old nephew. He’s popping popcorn (which I’m sure I’ll wind up picking up off the floor later, lol) & watching his cartoons. I’m wishing I hadn’t burned that ‘Fall scent” candle earlier; it really kind of stinks. I’m not even sure what that smells like!

  • michele

Painted again today.. Did the long entry hallway and tomorrow I will be mixing a color for the other hallways….I did very well in chemistry and worked in it for years so i believe I can do this….I have tons of white paint and will be making a creamy vanilla….wish me luck with this…

  • Kate Sarsfield

Mum & I have been saying for ages that we really should get into the habit of going to bed earlier & getting up at a decent hour, especially with the days getting shorter. Yesterday I managed to get up but, of course was still wide awake at 4am. This morning I got up early, went to the loo then sat on the bed to gather my bits & bobs and woke up 5 hours later. I’ll give it to the end of the week …

  • Tamra Phelps

Rain, rain, rain today. At least I didn’t have to go out in it, because it poured. We’re only a week into this cooler weather & I already miss sunny days. Geeze, how will I get through Winter, ha.

  • michele

Pouring rain and a tropical wave is approaching so I painted today.. never painted before in my life..first time for everything and I did it with no mess…touched up the kitchen above and below the wainscoting….the dining room the same and the drawing room… tomorrow full paint job for the hallways and maybe even the gallery….I feel very proud of myself….

  • Kate Sarsfield

Good afternoon! I’ve spent the morning fixing one of the gates that got a bit damaged in the recent storms and that’s about it so far. Time for a big mug of tea to thaw my fingers out!

  • Sherrie Cruson

My day is just starting over here on the West coast but so far so good. Haven’t grabbed my morning cup of coffee yet but as soon as do I should be perking up.

  • Cindy Brooks

Today we celebrated 24 years of marriage! I’m lucky to be married to an amazing man who loves me unconditionally. I need to start planning something special for our 25th anniversary!

  • Tamra Phelps

Hmm, not much going on today. I made brownies, spent some time with my niece & one of my nephews & that’s pretty much it, lol.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Hoorah! My sister finally got a new (ish) car so I can have mine back. Now all she has to do is get rid of all the goddamn dog hairs, sand and slobber on the windows etc. In other words clean my car back to the way it was before you borrowed it!

  • Ada Miller

So far my day is going good. I hate to say it’s bad when I’m thankful for waking up and having what I do have. However I wish I wouldn’t have slept so late and that my boys would stop asking every 5min can we go do something today when we just went out to eat and bowling last night. I guess they think everything that needs to be done for the week gets done on It’s own. Haha

  • michele

Glorious glorious Sunday….. I am sitting on my fat a….. all day as of now… Made a nice lunch for us and feeling sentimental and sad today….Heard Make It With You this morning by the band Bread and that was our song all those years ago…..

  • Tamra Phelps

I can’t believe it’s supposed to drop into the 40s in just a few days. And the 20s at night. Right now we’re still getting into the 60s & 70s on occasion, but I got the blankets & quilts out today, & the washing has begun, lol.

  • michele

I am finished work for the week… did more planting of seedlings and turned over some grow beds to rest ….. will re-plant them again next year some time….My plan for the rest of the day is relax and the same tomorrow…..I do feel that I will enjoy these rest days…

  • Tamra Phelps

My big accomplishment today was making a phone call. Hey, it was to a government office, so it involved being on hold forever & then being on hold a little more & then…well, you get the idea. They say it’s taken care of, but we’ll see. Since Mom died I’ve talked to way too many of these offices & it’s never taken care of. I’ve learned that the old adage about “put it in writing if you want it done’ is true.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Storm Brian is on his way & this time I WILL remember to fill the bath with water so we can flush the loo! All I’m doing today (apart from the usual housework) is emptying the freezer & I’m doing this instead, trying to put off the yucky job! So much waste when others are starving.

  • michele

So much for working outside today.. it is pouring rain…. tropical rain that you cannot escape from wind blowing and drops the size of small rocks….so as it is a planting day by my lunar calendar I will do transplants and see about starting some new seedlings….

  • Tamra Phelps

Time to drag out the blankets & quilts. It’s getting colder at night here. I haven’t even washed them yet, so unless I want to start freezing at night, I better get on that.

  • Kate Sarsfield

… and I’m back! Well, Ophelia came & went which left us without power since Monday afternoon, which means no water, lighting, heating etc. but we were well prepared and apart from losing the contents of the freezer and really needing a decent wash we got through it!

  • michele

Ran around with errands this morning and that does tire one out.. so the end result is taking the day off…..yes another day of loafing and doing nothing but fun stuff.. I will go back to work in the yard tomorrow…..promise…..

  • Tamra Phelps

It’s been pretty quiet around here today. It’s starting to get dark, so it’s that time of day when I notice that once again I forgot to have my brother change one of the blown lightbulbs in the livingroom, lol. (It’ s really high. No way am I going to attempt it.) Well, if he or my older nephew come over later, I might remember it. Maybe. Actually, I’ll probably forget again.

  • michele

It is pouring rain here today.. all my work outside plans have to be shelved so sad…have to read listen to music and relax…

  • Tamra Phelps

Today has just been a blue kind of day. I don’t know if it’s because the weather is changing (not bright & sunny any more) or because I’m getting shingles or just one of those days. Well, hopefully everything will look brighter tomorrow.

  • Kelly

I have had a wonderful day. It was a sunny day and a perfect temp to be outside. I finished up the garden, and started to rake leaves and put into the mulch pile. Then went to an auction and got a couple great items.

  • michele

Well the sun is up and I am ready to go and face the day….I want to start working on the grow beds on the north side of the house… getting them ready for some more flowers…..

  • Wendy R.

Good luck with your packing! I still have stuff stuffed away in storage that needs to be sorted through from our move almost 4 years ago. My day was ok, thank you, hope yours was too!

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, last night the shingles nerve pain was ‘moving makes you yell’ bad but early this morning I called the doctor & got some medicine. It seems a little better already. You know, before I first got shingles (several years ago) I just thought it was some skin problem. But the rash is just a small symptom (for some people it gets horrible, though)–shingles is actually a nerve irritation/inflammation problem—& man, that part hurts.

  • michele

Today .. and yes I know it is Monday….is our Sunday.. yesterday was a quasi work day and really did not fully relax and do a “me” day so I am doing nothing today at all !!

  • Kate Sarsfield

Hurricane Ophelia is due to hit Ireland & the whole country is on red alert. All the garden furniture & pot plants are in the garage, I’ve cooked a huge pot of chilli that we can re-heat on the camping gas, buckets & saucepans are ready to be filled with water so we can drink & wash, vacuum flasks are standing by as are candles, flashlights & the scrabble board. Now all we can do is wait.

  • Tamra Phelps

This has been a crappy day. First, I’m having a ‘mild’ shingles outbreak (by which I mean the rash is pretty small, just a 4 or 5 inch circle of little, itchy red bumps—hope it stays small) but the nerve pain is hitting around the right knee. So…it hurts with every step I take. Here’s some excellent advise: if you’ve had chickenpox, get the shingles vaccine. Even mild outbreaks really ruin your day!

    • Kate Sarsfield

It’s horrible. Mum caught chicken pox as a trainee teacher & had had shingles 3 times over the years. Each time is worse and it lasts for months – really painful. Mind yourself!

      • Tamra Phelps

Thanks, guys. Last night was horrible but today I called the doctor & he called in some medicine. Seems a little better this evening.

  • michele

Yesterday evening our disabled sheep Lucy passed away….She was 7 years old….Being born with a club foot she always had problems..my late husband actually made her a pair of boots out of old Reeboks…..it was very quick and appeared to be pain free….CJ and I tried to dig the hole last night, in fact we tried 3 different spots before we realized this was above our pay grade… This morning our neighbor came and took care of everything and now Lucy is resting under a tree .. As we watched him we were wondering why we thought we could do this…..I really cannot take anymore death….

    • Tamra Phelps

Your husband must’ve been amazing, Michele! I love the idea of a sheep in Reeboks. I’m glad you have neighbors like that guy, too.

  • Cheryl Chervitz

My day went very well. Just a boring old Saturday, laying around with the dogs and watching TV. Who could ask for more!

  • Tamra Phelps

Today has been one of those days where I think about all the things I ought to get done, but I just never actually get up & get busy. Nope. The ‘busiest’ part of my day was mixing up some cookie dough.

  • Tamra Phelps

What did I do today? Not much. I did roast a chicken with potatoes, carrots & onions. But that mostly just involves sitting around waiting for it to finish cooking.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I have done diddly-squat, nada, absolutely FA today other than scour eBay for this year’s party frock. I’m down another 3 dress sizes since last year’s Pantomime so nothing fits properly and Christmas just doesn’t happen unless I have sequins!

    • Tamra Phelps

Hey, if you’ve gone down 3 dress sizes, you deserve all the sequins you want! I love bright & glittery Christmases in all things (clothes, decor, etc.) No elegant, subdued decorations for me. Give me things that flash on & off, shiny tinsel & garland, & things that make the neighbors cringe, lol.

      • Kate Sarsfield

Absolutely! I remember going to my sister & her bf for Christmas one year & she’d done everything blue and silver! Very tasteful (and v. expensive) but where’s the fun, I wanted to scream! My trees look like they been put up by a 5 year old!

  • michele

Had a great day today.. went shopping for Halloween ..need to make truffles for the evening.. it would not be Halloween w/o truffles….also started my Thanksgiving shopping got our turkey.. sausage for the stuffing….brussel sprouts and cauliflower which I blanched and froze the minute we got home…also got my favorite green apple vodka….by the end of November I will have everything in house… This will be the first year I don’t make fruitcake.. normally the candied fruits and raisins would have been soaking in a bottle of rum since the summer…..my husband was the only one who loved it so no more…..

  • michele

Ran errands today…. the plants are asking where I am.. told the dog to tell them I ran away from home….she feels so powerful knowing where I really went….

    • Kate Sarsfield

If mine ask, the cat is under strict instructions to say ‘she ran away to join the circus’ and I’m in charge now!

  • Tamra Phelps

I’m spending a few hours with my youngest nephew since his parents had to take my older nephew to a doctor’s appointment out of town. So, my day has been spent watching SpongeBob & Teen Titans & other cartoons.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Sound the trumpets & beat those drums! Mum got her hearing aids this morning and is amazed at just how much she was missing out on – the hum of the fridge, the sound of the kettle boiling … and you really can’t see them at all, they’re so tiny.

    • michele

      Good for mom….
i remember when my mom finally gave in and started wearing hers… Your mom will have so many new experiences. positive for her and you!

    • Tamra Phelps

Lol, my Grandpa never did admit that he needed hearing aids. He insisted that we all mumbled. We just got used to yelling everything. He’s been gone for almost 16 years but I bet he still insists Saint Peter & everyone else he meets needs to stop mumbling!

  • Tracy Robertson

It was a good day! I worked a lot, a few hours on my PT job, followed by a 4-12 shift on my FT job as a caregiver. My client and I both love to play bingo, so we went last night and I won 2 games, which was super exciting because sometimes you can go every week for many months without winning. On the bad side of things, I feel horrible for those affected by the Northern CA wildfires. I am several counties away but have been seeing and smelling the smoke all day long. So sad and scary!

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’m very tired. I had to collect my niece from Dublin yesterday evening (5 hour round trip) then straight on to a choir rehearsal. We’ve been asked to sing at the annual Remembrance Day Service (Veterans’ Day) in November so are trying to find suitable songs/choral music. It’s quite an honour to be asked so we’re going to be singing our little socks off between now & then.

  • Pat Schwab

Just finished a delish dinner and getting ready to watch the Indians. If we win tonight it will be a great ending to my day. Go Indians. Hope you are having a great day.

  • michele

Jeez spent the morning gardening.. have I said it enough I HATE THIS….. dirt and blah…. I was not meant for this….. but I digress…. I transplanted all sorts of flowers.. do not ask me what they are just note they are very pretty.. transplanted lots of foliage plants.. once again I have no idea what they are but they are lovely…..transplanted lettuce and melons into bigger cups.. must admit they do look healthy….shocked myself….maybe I CAN do this…..time for relaxation and a cocktail.. do love my cocktails Kate…..

  • Tamra Phelps

There seems to be some sort of road work or something noisy on our stret today. Yeah, that sound is getting old, lol. Well, my brother is off work today, so no watching nephews today. Well, unless one decides he doesn’t want to go to the other’s practice or game.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Well, praise be, it finally happened! My sister arrived to help me lift the lid off the well so I spent about an hour down there changing the filters & generally checking all the pipes etc. ready for winter. We now have proper running water again rather than just a trickle. All is ‘well’ again (sorry, couldn’t resist the awful pun!).

  • Tamra Phelps

It’s Fall Break for the schools here this week, so I spent today with my 8 year old nephew. At one point, I looked over and he was sitting on the floor, watching TV & eating a bowl of cereal, trying to grip the spoon with his toes & eat his cereal with his foot. That should tell you how many messes I’ve had to help him clean up today, lol.

  • michele

Well the day is starting out sunny so better get a move on.. have to spray the grow beds with weed killer and let them sit for a day so says the product label….Tomorrow is a planting day so have to get ready to transplant all my seedlings… believe it or not they actually look good and strong now only to do the transplanting w/o damaging them….Still trying to get my plant conservatories door off the hinges I might actually have to ask a neighbor to help me.. Grrrr…. I have liked the feeling of being able to manage myself….

  • Kate Sarsfield

I had lots of plans for today but my sister needed the car so they were scrapped. I know, I’ll finish weeding & putting down bark mulch … it rained for hours. I’m still waiting for my niece to help me lift the lid off the well so I pretty much did nothing! Well, I sang my entire repertoire to try to lift my mood a bit and that worked so I guess I did achieve something after all 🙂

  • michele

The garage is actually clean.. spotless… clear walk thru….now you don’t want to see the rubbish pile.. I will need a truck to haul that away.. I feel very glad about the clean out….

  • Tamra Phelps

Rain, rain, rain. And then more rain, lol. It started with a storm last night & it has just kept up a steady rain ever since. Rain gets old fast!

  • michele

So grateful that it is Sunday.. truly my fun day…. not doing a thing today just cooking then relaxing with my glass or 2 of wine…..

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’m catching up on outside jobs that need doing before the weather gets too bad. Top of the list is changing the filters on the well (thank you Dad for teaching me how & saving us a lot of money in the process). The only problem is that it takes two to lift the cover off the well and I’m waiting … and waiting … for my niece to wake up and get herself over here!

    • michele

Good for you Kate… amazing what you do…..I can’t even change the water filter for the whole house system….Chloe is trying though

  • Tamra Phelps

Turned out I had to get up early this morning because neither nephew wanted to go to their sister’s volleyball game, so they came over here. I spent most of the day trying to stay awake–but, of course, now I’m wide awake.

  • michele

Success at the bank yesterday.. I should be grateful it only took 3 weeks….Off outside to do more gardening and more cleaning.. It is a lovely sunny day so I am happy I won’t have to slog around in the rain….

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, after today, my niece & nephews are on Fall break from school for a week, so next week will be getting up early to watch kids. I guess I better take advantage of this weekend to sleep in, ha!

  • Dana Rodriguez

Just a usual day here. We did however get the screened in front porch finished today so I am looking forward to sitting there on cool mornings/ evenings and look out at the beautiful pond.
On a side note Connie the link in the tweets for this giveaway do not work. When it is clicked it is a blank page. Maybe it is a Google Chrome thing? IDK.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Another early morning start (TGIF!) then spent most of the day gardening. It was one of those dry but cold days that make you feel guilty about staying indoors. I’m about to have a delish homemade pizza that will more than compensate for all the calories I burned up earlier and def. no guilt trip involved 🙂

  • Tamra Phelps

Slow day here. My brother was off today, so I didn’t have the homework battles with my nephews after they got out of school, lol. I just did my own thing mostly.

  • Kate Sarsfield

… and back down to Earth with a bump, or rather, a squelch! After getting up at 5.30 to get my niece to her bus, the first thing I did when I got in was to kick off my sandals to soothe my aching feet on the kitchen tiles. What I didn’t know was that the cat had puked up half a mouse & yes, there are no words to describe the sensation of partly-digested rodent oozing between your toes!

Since we have had numerous blackouts for the past few weeks the electric company has decided to shut us down from 8-4pm today they plan on upgrading our lines so they say….so let us see if things get better when the rain pours and the sky lights up with lightening and the thunder rolls!!

Well, my day of being pampered & glammed up is over. I can understand why the supermodels didn’t get out of bed for less than 10 grand – it’s hard work smiling & trying to look good when your feet are killing you! The makeup alone took the best part of an hour – I hadn’t the heart to tell him I preferred my ‘own’ look and that only takes 10 minutes max!

    • Tamra Phelps

Ha, you definitely need to display these photos with a plaque that says “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful!!’ (remember that commercial from the 90’s? Your comment about the supermodels reminded me of that.) Seriously, when you get them, I hope you post a few on Facebook.

Do you remember an commercial “Heavy on the Miracle Whip, Harry!”? I think it may be a case of heavy with the airbrush, Harry!

Once again worked all morning on my new plant conservatory.. scrubbed and cloroxed the concrete and I plan on taking off the door and putting a creeping vine over the entrance, it was once a large kennel for our dogs when we had many…. it became a large fenced in area with old wood etc my husband had plans for it but he never got to tell me what they were so I have decided to make it for plants and flowers.. you can see it from the dining room windows and I am so pleased with the start.. I have large 2 large pots of ginger , an orange tree, a tropical foliage and 2 other brightly colored foliages…as time goes by I am going to add terracotta pots of flowers…..

There’s not a lot going on here. I finished putting up groceries and did the dishes. I was helping my older nephew with his homework & googled a question that puzzled me. To my surprise, I found that question & every other question on his paper, in order, at a website called quizlet. So, I guess I discovered where his teacher gets her questions, lol.

Last Sensory Garden tour for SPARK at the Chatfield DBG. We went to the pumpkin field and picked pumpkins and then painted them.

My day is going fine! Here’s a hot tip: Need to improve the flavor of canned Chicken stew? Add 1 can cream of celery soup ( do not add water) This adds flavor and creaminess.

My day is done.. started early totally sanitizing my husbands aviary.. he loved his birds doves all types….pairs of apricots.. white love birds… after he passed away a really bad bird flue went thru and took out so many.. I often wondered if they knew he was gone….anyway we are carrying on to the best of our ability.. the cooing in the morning is so pleasant… but one has to take out the clorox and the black detergent and clean it all out!!! Done and the birds said thank you…moved to more planting and now I am pooped… As usual a glass of wine and a nice lunch and then relax!!

The legs and pits are shaved, the brows plucked, now all I need is my car back from my sister & I’m ready for tomorrow’s photoshoot!

  • Tamra Phelps

Not much happened today, which is OK by me. My nephews were here after school, we made a pizza, one did homework & the other didn’t have homework, so he watched YouTube (which I was OK with because it meant he didn’t practice his trumpet–he’s pretty good on it but man, it’s loud!)

  • Kate Sarsfield

My sister had my car all day so I spent most of today working through the unfinished things of my Sept. to-do list and now have started on my Oct.’s list. I do love lists & that little feeling of satisfaction I get when things get ticked off! One of life’s simple pleasures, apart from fixing the wobbly toilet seat – that’s a bummer (pun intended)!

    • michele

Don’t you love lists… taking a pen and striking things off makes me delirious….You can fix that seat..I have faith in you

My day’s going okay so far. Not too busy…got some laundry done. Brought a return back to the UPS Store. And dropped off an application at our local library…they’re looking for a part time circulation desk assistant. I hope they call me! Hope your day is going well.

What a morning…Being the modern farmer I am now I started flats of seedlings…all to go into the aquaponic system and more flowers .. I removed from all his hiding places the trees that dear husband was grafting….jeez 10 maybe….they are all overgrown and a mess so to the compost they go..My new plans are beginning to take shape…small grafted trees in an enclosure with foliage….look I hate dirt and I was so dirty that I threw everything in the downstairs washer including myself…..now I am spotless and having a lovely glass of wine before lunch….Kate wish you were here to see how well this city girl did….

We just came back from a weekend staycation in town to celebrate our 6th anniversary. My day started off great. But then I saw the news today. Praying for those in Las Vegas.

Happy Monday! My Sunday was a great day. I got my fitness on in the morning, made my hubby breakfast and did some picking up around the house. I then changed the beddding on our bed, completed all the laundry and finally showered for the day. Vacuumed the downstairs, folded and put all the clean laundry away then sat still for a little R&R. Then I Made my hubby and I lite dinners and after we then took the dog for a walk. Then while my husband watched football I got caught up on some of my reality TV before going to bed. ?

Sine it is 4:22 and I am just starting my day, I will say yesterday started really good and then turned into a bummer. The Pats lost 🙁

  • MaryAnne JK

well, to be honest, I spent my little side money that was supposed to last two weeks, I bought some scratch offs and walk away with a $5 win, nothing near what I spent and am out of now … really bummed, right now….seriously :/

I did know Medicare covers doctor’s visits. Mom was pretty sick at times over the last several years, & we had home visits from nurses, doctors, and physical therapists at times. Reminded me of when I was very young, like 4 or 5, and some doctors went to patients’ homes rather than have office visits. (I saw a news article a while back about how some doctors are doing that now to cut down on expenses: no office, no employees, etc.)

I moved almost 4 years ago, Connie, & I still have one room full of boxes that haven’t been unpacked, lol. (Mostly books.) If you move, I’m sure your grandkids will love visiting you! You’ll get lots of pictures of all 3 smiling AT THE SAME TIME!!

  • Sarah L

Sounds like you’re really moving to Idaho??? I can understand not wanting to pack anything until you know for sure.
    Thanks for the contest.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I have had a lovely lazy day – I’m still in my nightshirt! All I’ve done is read, watch an old b&w film, tanned my legs & applied a face pack! Ah, this is the life 🙂

  • Kate Sarsfield

Wow, you’ve a lot going on and a lot of emotional stuff at that. Turning the page and starting a new chapter of your life is never going to be easy & tears will be shed but you have to do what’s best for you & George. Just think of those stars and the visitors who may come from as far away as Ireland to see them!

  • michele

Sorry I have not wished you the absolute best on your move..35 years in one place is a long time and a big change….Idaho… it looks amazing and that change is what keeps us going and learning and adapting… Best to you Connie!

17 years ago my husband said to me hey Shel.. lets early retire and move to the caribbean where I was born and have not been back to for over 30 years…. and buy land and have animals and grow veggies and smile in the sun….Being the insane person I have always been( maybe because we old east coast girls are a bit dotty) I said yes of course dear….our 40 foot container that had ALL our worldly possessions on it got lost in a transfer point in Jamaica and wound up in the far east… ok.. it will turn around and come back right???? Yes it did months and months later… we had no electric connection.. no running water….but you know what?? it all worked out and it worked out so bloody well that our princess, our wonderful daughter joined us and you know it had to be A+ for her arrival.. so I said all of this to tell you that all will be well.. it will work out… and your possessions won’t go to the far east….
