The Amazing Benefits of Yacon Syrup!
First, do you know what Yacon Syrup is?
I didn’t. Yacon Syrup is used mostly as a natural sweetener. It’s made from the Yacon Plant a tuberous root from Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. Did you know it’s actually one of the most preferred natural sweeteners? I had no idea!
The reason it’s so popular is that it’s around 50% Fructooligosacharides. Basically, it means it doesn’t raise your blood glucose levels!! With so many diabetics in my family, this is really good to know!
Hermosa Peak Yacon Syrup is an amber-colored, thick syrup that reminds me of molasses in color. Not being a big molasses fan, you have to imagine my face all scrunched up, ready for that ‘taste’. I have to admit, I am pleasantly surprised and impressed! I really, REALLY like the taste. As a matter of fact I haven’t used anything else for sweetener in my coffee, cereal or baking since my Yacon Syrup arrived. I can’t imagine NOT having this in my kitchen.
Yacon Benefits
I’ve got more benefits! Our good friend Dr. Oz recently talked about Yacon Syrup for it’s health benefits, but also for weight loss! Boy, did my ears perk up! Yacon Syrup and Weight Loss go hand in hand together.
Appetite Suppression Independent studies have proven that your appetite is diminished! The fructooligosaccharides can lower the hunger hormone ghrelin, which reduces appetite. I’m IN!!
A large part of Yacon syrup isn’t digested, so it only has a third of the calories that sugar does.
When the fructooligosaccharides reach the large intestine, they feed the friendly bacteria in the digestive system. Then the magic happens!! We all know that friendly bacteria in the gut is so important for our health. With the right mix you lower your risk of diabetes, improved brain function and better immunity. I’m also very ‘regular’ now. That right there is impressive for me.
Take one teaspoon before each meal, three times per day. Add it to your coffee, tea, you can even bake with it!
Two thumbs enthusiastically UP!! WAY, WAY up!! For Hermosa Peaks Yacon Syrup. Remember, Fructooligosaccharides, feed the friendly bacteria in the intestine, leading to big benefits for the metabolism.

Refreshing My Old Blog Posts: The Good, The Bad, and The 404s
Updating an old blog post is a lot like an archaeological dig. You expect a quick “dusting” and end up unearthing a series of questionable life choices from 2014.
I recently opened a “quick update” only to find:
- Missing Images: Key tutorial steps now require “imagination.”
- Dead Links: Half my brand partners have rebranded as “AI Crypto Collectives.”
- Antique Fonts: Styles that haven’t been cool since the dial-up era.
Why I’m Optimizing This Blog
It’s not glamorous, but fixing broken links and whispering “Pick me!” to Google makes the site faster and easier for you to find. I’m not spiraling; I’m just cleaning up the blog ghosts.

I never heard of yacon syrup before, nor Fructooligosacharides! I will be looking for this, and have a relative with diabetes, and can’t wait to try it!
