The Great Secret by L. Ron Hubbard
L. Ron Hubbard wrote books in the 1930’s and 1940’s and who would have thought that in 2013 I would be spell bound by these stories?!?!
The Galaxy Audio Stories of the Golden Age has done a tremendous job with these stories. The books on CD have multi-cast performances and are unabridged running approximately 2 hours long.
The Great Secret CD is actually several short stories. This CD is geared toward Science Fiction.
I love the sound effects. Footfalls, water running, you can hear the people run through the foliage this is watching tv in your mind!! These stories are so engaging I can’t multi-task.
There is no listening to an L. Ron Hubbard book and surf the Internet, no checking emails. Nope, I find that I am hanging on every word. The narrators are amazing, Bruce Boxleitner, Lynsey Bartilson, R.F. Daley, Jim Meskimen, Josh R. Thompson and Chuck White.
The stories are packed with music and cinema-quality sound effects, putting you right into the heart of the story. I can’t wait to start the next CD.
Fanner Marston was raised a slave as a child, became a petty street thief as a teen, and now masters his own craft and crew as a grown man. He’s also gone completely mad.
Driven by privation, with a vicious greed and slavering lust for power, Marston alone of forty men has survived the perilous trek through a blistering desert to the magical city of Parva, where legend says a secret awaits which will give him absolute control over the Universe.
However, Marston finds the key to all power is not at all what he expected. . . .

L. R. Hubbard may not be that great for creating a “religion” but he sure was a good science-fiction writer! I really should listen to these audiobooks! Thanks for your review!
