The Original Buddha Board Review
What is a Buddha Board? Well, it’s the most relaxing item I’ve come across in a long time; inspired by the Zen idea of living in the moment. When I sat down to write this review I was trying to think of how to describe this board to you; the best description I could think of was, the Buddha Board is like an etch-a-sketch without the shaking and with no hard sharp lines!! It’s a soothing, mediating experience.
The Buddha Board comes beautifully nestled in a gift-ready box. Inside in the box is a plain white, black framed 12” by 9½” by ¼” board. A black Japanese style water tray that also is your stand. The water tray has 2 cut outs, one for your paint brush and one for your board. The cut outs help the board sit at the perfect angle for painting. The Original Buddha Board also comes with a beautiful bamboo brush.
The Original Buddha Board gently encourages the user to value the present. Simply paint on the board’s special surface with water; the image darkens and then slowly fades away. It effortlessly brings out the creative side that exists in all of us. You can create and play to your heart’s content.
Buddha Board is environmentally friendly as it only uses water – no ink, no paint, no chemicals. All you add is water.
You don’t need any talent for this Buddha Board because if you don’t like the outcome it’s gone in minutes anyway! To ‘paint’ on the Buddha Board you use water! The painting just evaporates! Just doodle!
When 3-year-old Alice is being a little monst; I mean, when she is rambunctious.. I direct her to the Buddha Board and tell her to paint gently. I explain that she has to barely touch the board with the paint brush. She gets into the zone and is quiet and thoughtful with her painting. It’s amazing to watch.
For myself; when I have writers block a few minutes with mindless painting I’m calm and focused again. There is something truly relaxing and calming about this board. I can lose myself in the moment. Much like mediating.
I keep my Buddha Board out all of the time. People can’t resist wanting to paint!! People will paint for the longest time. It is ADDICTING!!!
WHINES
What could I whine about? The Buddha Board doesn’t require ink, pens, pencils, markers or paint of any kind. It doesn’t require batteries or electricity. Everything comes in the box, the paint brush, board and stand; you just add water. Then let your imagination flow and express yourself and walk away relaxed and calm.

I’ve never seen anything like this before. I’d certainly use this as a time-out in some of my classes of children with intellectual disability.

It’s interesting only water is needed for the buddha board. I can see how the board can have a calming effect and I love that there is no clean up.

What a great idea! It would be great for adults or kids, too. I bet it would be a big hit with my niece, especially. She loves art.
