4 Big Pieces of Advice for Getting Your Own Mommy Blog Off the Ground!!

If you dream of turning your passion for motherhood into a full-time income via blogging, you’re certainly not alone.

But if you’re also struggling to get from Point A to Point B with your own blog, you’re certainly not alone.

For starters, it pays to have realistic expectations in terms of what’s possible and what’s not. Let’s be honest: it’s difficult to juggle the day-to-day responsibilities of a mother and run a blog at the same time. Beyond finding the time, there’s no denying that competition in the blogosphere is fierce as everyone’s trying to grow their audience at the same time.

That’s no excuse to get discouraged and give up, though.

Whether you’re pondering the idea of starting a blog or are having trouble getting your current blog off the ground, consider the following five tips to help stand out from the pack and get your ideas moving sooner rather than later.

Keep Your Blog Under Lock and Key

Perhaps the most important aspect of any blog is protection for the long-term. By locking down your WordPress account and personal information now, you don’t have to worry about hacking headaches or site shutdowns in the future. For starters, keep your plugins up to take to using the easiest password manager possible to avoid any potential hacks: thinking toward the future of your blog is always a plus.

Scout Fresh Affiliate Opportunities

Blogging and affiliate marketing go hand in hand: how else do you think that bloggers make a full-time income in the first place? Sprinkling affiliate links throughout your content is a surefire way to drum up some cash once you’ve built a readership, granted you don’t overdo it. That’s why affiliate links via brands like Amazon are so valuable: you can sell just about anything and you’re already working with a trusted brand.

From toys and mommy must-haves to self-help books and other knick knacks, there are endless opportunities to push products relevant to your readership. As long as you don’t spam affiliate links, you’re good to go.

Get Smarter with Social Media

If you aren’t taking advantage of what platforms such as Facebook have to offer mom bloggers, you’re doing yourself a massive disservice. Between providing sound advice in parenting groups to sharing content via your own private Facebook community, social networking is a goldmine for traffic and branding opportunities alike.

Rather than thinking of Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest as a place to push content, think of these platforms as places to speak to the wants and needs of your audience.

Connect with Other Bloggers

On a similar note, there’s perhaps no better way to get noticed within the blogosphere than by promoting other bloggers in your niche. Don’t think of boosting the content of your competitors as throwing in the towel. Instead, imagine how catching their eye and buttering up your closest competition can help you attract your competitors’ followers.

Again, blogging is all about the concept of community: when you only share your own content, people tend to tune out.

As always, patience is key with getting any sort of blog off the ground. With these tips in the back of your mind, you can move forward with your blog with a sense of confidence and strategy rather than endlessly wondering what to do next.
