Had knee replacement and was doing extremely well and something went wrong. No fall or unexpected twist but suddenly I couldn’t put any weight on that leg. Back in the hospital for another 5 days and no one could find an answer. Back home and progress isn’t quite as fast but at last I’m walking. Small blessinggs.

Had to make cookies for someone’s birthday, found out I was out of brown sugar. Had some Okinawan black sugar from the Japanese store and needed a few different methods to get it to incorporate (crushing it left lunps, so I had to whiz it with the melted butter in a food processor). The batter tastes great, but I won’t know if it bakes right until later on once it chills…

I woke up at 2:30 a.m. with the ‘mother of all’ sore throats then came the fever dreams until 7:00 a.m. I am feeling better now just pissed that I caught a bug as I am super careful when I am out in public. I wipe down my cart when entering the store, keep my distance from others and always wash my hands like a surgeon going into the operating room!!! Guess I need to get even more O.C.D. now and up my game!

I’m lying in bed at 4pm (got sniffles & generally feeling sorry for myself). Am watching birds pairing up in the trees. There are 3 wood pigeons (2 male & 1 female). My order of 6 bras arrived this morning and joy of joys, the fit is perfect!!! Now I can chuck out/recycle all the dodgy ones. Honestly, I was a 36B till I turned 40 then … 42G. Not a happy bunny, I can assure you. Hate them. The weight of them causes back pain each and every day, just between the shoulder blades, about where the bra strap is. If I ever win the lottery, they’re top of my list of changes to be made.

I bought them from Asda (a UK supermarket) and really cheap. Was not expecting miracles but was very pleasantly suprised. Generally I find front-closing bras to be better for my posture.

Hi Connie, I sure hope your husband is doing better now. I think I need to be saged too and soon. Just over the past two days I caught a cold, cut my finger cutting a bagel and had a to return an item to the store where the manager told me that he was doing me a favor by letting me return it. A favor! They gave me the wrong item, It was returnable and I had my receipt. I thought I was going ‘nut up’ but I just told him that it wasn’t my fault they gave me the wrong thing.

Left the house at 6.45am & got to Enniskillen at 8.30. Just a light drizzle so much easier than last time. Went to 2 supermarkets and bought enough dry & wet cat food to last about 3 months. It cost 400 sterling, about 450 euro, but if if I’d bought it down here it would have cost over 900 euro. Bought a few other bits and bobs and tried 4 shops/boutiques to find a decent pair of trousers, but no joy. Got home about 3pm, unpacked all the food, fed the boys and Oreo from next door, fed myself. Rummaged through my own clothes and managed to find 2 pairs of black trousers (phew)! You have to understand that some of my clothes are still packe/stored folded on shelves. It’s dark now, so catching up with emails etc. while sipping a Southern Comfort or two!

Serious snow here – by the time we got to the soup kitchen yesterday it was time to move quickly get everything done and for me back home before the snow got really heavy…It is still lightly snowing now….so pretty outside but a nightmare for drivers….got our grocery delivery at half past 7 and our driver confirmed roads, even with the plowing, difficult…

It is snowing here but in northern Mn they have some bliazzard conditions…this afternoon was my soup kitchen duty.. they already called to see if i would do kitchen duty now instead of later this afternoon…I agreed as long as someone comes and picks me up…they agreed so off in about 1/2 hour…lol.. my daughter already told me to be home RIGHT after – no staying on for extra even if someone goes not show up! gotta love that girl…

I got up with the cats at 6.30am ‘cos I have an early start on Thursday & I want to get used to it. My lovely plumber man popped in, checked everything out to get the shower going & replace pipes to the toilet cistern and quoted less than 2K! And that’s including the electrician to fit the electric shower! Forgot to ask him about connecting up a water supply to the washing machine, but will when he calls again in a few weeks to get measurements etc. And I’ll ask him to recommend a handy man – need help with putting up curtain rails & shelves ‘cos of this bloody hand. Might have a working shower by Easter!

And the results are in … I have arthritis at the base of my right thumb 🙁 As long as it doesn’t interfere with working on the house & garden, I’ll be ok. Doc.’s organising a steroid injection for me. It has to be done by specialist (i.e. hospital) because they have to pull open the joint and then insert the needle into the gap. Don’t like the sound of that but if it helps with the pain …

Oh, once I had a steroid injection because of an allergic reaction and my knee arthritis felt amazing for days!! Lol, it works!

We have a skunk either under our house or under our front porch and it sprayed last night so bad! I have been up since 2:30 a,m. gagging now I am wondering if I smell like it? Now we are expecting a big snowstorm so I am thinking Mr. Skunk is gong to really hunker down. I need a redneck fix for getting rid of one bad skunk.

Happy Car Insurance Renewal Day!!!!
Have come to a decision re. my lump sum: Going to ring the plumber who fixed my toilet one evening after I moved in. He was on his way home to get ready to head to Spain the following morning. He worked for 2 hours and refused payment, saying it hadn’t cost him anything as he had the parts left over from another job. Well, Karma and all that … have decided to stick with my car for the mo’, get the shower up & running & hopefully have a little rainy day sum left over in the bank. Have also decided to head to the North again to stock up on catfood. Hopefully next Thursday, depending on the weather. It’s bitterly cold today & sleet/snow due later.

Was just gazing out the front patio saw this rather large animal – thought is was a raccoon, no, a really big cat, no a possum yes! never saw one before and I thought they were nocturnal…he ( or she) was munching on bark or ants something had him happy putting his long snout in the ground…would have gone out to see him close up but I might have scared him ( no makeup hair not done) lol…

My computer decided to turn on with a black screen this morning so I had to play computer tech first thing – the sun is not even up yet! What the Hell is wrong with me? Last night, despite going to bed really tired & yawning till my jaw clicked, I was still awake at 8.30am. Managed a couple of hours then up to do the usual chores. I have to get x-rays on my right thumb/wrist. Been painful for a while & saw the doc. It isn’t carpal tunnel syndrome but may be arthritis connected to an old wrist fracture. Is this the beginning of the end?

Happy Imbolc & St. Brigid’s Day to you all! Imbolc being the Celtic start of Spring & St. Brigid being the Matron Saint of Ireland. It’s a long weekend in Ireland, not that that makes any difference to me any more. The weather’s been beautiful and people are smiling! Of course it won’t last, but lovely while it’s here.
