What Do YOU Do To Prepare For Cold And Flu Season?

I dunno about you but this cooler weather is kinda nice. NOW, do not get me wrong! I am SO NOT ready for snow. I just like the 70-degree weather verses the 100-degree. You as the temperatures drop and the kids go back to school it means that cold and flu season is on it’s way. Start preparing now to make sure that you and your family stay healthy.

Now, I am NOT a doctor (although I do play one on WebMD and Google. I have some tips that help me and The Husband stay healthy.

Staying Healthy During Cold and Flu Season

During cold and flu season, it’s crucial to take preventative measures to avoid getting sick. Here are some key steps you can take to stay healthy:

  1. Wash Your HANDS! When you get home, wash your hands, or if you are out and about, use hand sanitizer. Just think about how many times you touch your face during the day. Wash them hands!
  2. Boost Your Immune System: Make sure you’re getting plenty of vitamins and minerals to support your immune system. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains is the best, but if you are like me and don’t have the best diet supplement with vitamins. My favorite will always be adding Vitamin C to my day.
  3. Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help flush out toxins and keep your body functioning properly. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to stay hydrated.
  4. Get Plenty of Rest: Adequate sleep is essential for a strong immune system. Aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night to help your body fight off any potential illnesses.
  5. Stay Active: Regular exercise can help boost your immune system and keep you healthy. Aim to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day.

Stocking Up on Cold and Flu Supplies

In addition to taking preventative measures, it’s essential to have a stock of cold and flu supplies on hand in case you do get sick. Here are some items to have in your medicine cabinet:

I've got a cold clip art
  • Tissues: Stock up on plenty of tissues to help you stay comfortable if you come down with a cold. Personally, I like the lotion ones when my nose gets sore.
  • Cough Drops: Soothe a sore throat with cough drops or lozenges. Lemon-honey for this girl.
  • Pain Relievers: Keep acetaminophen or ibuprofen on hand to help reduce fever and relieve aches and pains.
  • Decongestants: Nasal decongestants can help relieve congestion and make breathing easier.
  • Thermometer: Keep a thermometer on hand to monitor your temperature if you start feeling unwell.
  • Hotel Room: You know…. in case your spouse comes down with a MAN-COLD! They are SERIOUS! (man, I am a funny bi&ch!)

Conclusion

Start preparing now for cold and flu season. You’ll feel better during the coming winter months. I have already started. I take my winter vitamins daily. My personal favorites are zinc, C, E, and an energy drink to start my day. (you know that if the cold bug can’t catch you…..) I try to get extra sleep, and wash my hands often.

I would love to know what you do to prepare for the cold season.
