Today was my Husband’s birthday, so I let him do nothing, he did cook for us. I wish I had done more, but he hasn’t picked out an amplifier yet and so I didn’t have anything to give him except a card. But he knows I love him and he loves me too. I’m just so lucky, it took 3 times and some bad experiences before I met him. I now know what real love feels like and it’s great!!! Hope your day was good and you have a great night.

Summer has arrived in Ireland at last! Well, we’ve had a couple of beautiful days with no rain (that counts as summer here!). All I’ve done is a bit of laundry and looked after Mum but I got some bashed mangoes for next to nothing so I’m planning on making gelato with them, coconut milk, pineapple & passion fruit – yum!

Long night, hurt real bad so I didn’t go to sleep until 8am this morning. Woke up at 2pm and
my husband fixed me breakfast, then I took a nap and woke up. Been watching movies and entering contests on the computer since then. Just don’t feel good. My MS is causing my leg to give way with spasms and my toes oh hurt so bad, I feel like I’m turned inside out. My husband rubs my back and smiles and makes me smile too. Hope your day was good.

Today has been a bit of an odd one. I feel so ashamed of myself complaining about all the usual things like the Irish summer weather, the length of the queue at the supermarket checkout, then I realised just how flipping lucky I am. My home is still standing, no bombs are falling, my family is safe, fed, sheltered and educated. Sometimes I just need a reality check.

I know. Every little thing I complain about lately, I stop & remember I’m alive. I’m not fighting cancer or dying of cancer. I can deal with the fact that we just opened the cabinet under the kitchen sink & found an inch of standing water, lol. Sometimes life reminds you of just how lucky you are.

Had a good day, got good news from one of my doctors to start the morning. Husband went grocery shopping and we can home and he cooked a great veggie lunch. The rest we just picked up and moved some fabric tubs so I could pick out some colors I need to finish a quilt. Hope you had a great day! 🙂

Mum continues to improve physically but her memory is very patchy, even about little things like cleaning her teeth. It’s a bit upsetting to see her struggling but then I have to remind myself that at least she isn’t remembering those struggles.

My sister-in-law’s Father died today (cancer.) He was just in his mid 50s, too young. He was a good guy, dependable, always willing to help out & a great Grandpa to my niece & nephews. You would think after 51 years, I would accept that life is not fair…but nope! I still just want to holler ‘that’s not fair!’

Oh, Tamra, I’m so sorry. At least it was quick though & he wasn’t suffering for too long. Even worse would be for the family to see him suffering so do be thankful for that even though as you say, life just isn’t fair sometimes. When I think of all the good ones who have gone too soon and the number of absolute a**holes who are left the numbers just don’t make sense. But I guess that’s just life and there’s not a whole lot we can do about it. And don’t be afraid to holler, the louder the better, it does help! xxx

It;s been a month since mom passed away. The deep sorrow and sobbing is lessening, but fighting depression now and just want to pull the covers over my head… so today is just about making myself MOVE and get at least a few small tasks handled.

This morning not so great, I am disacbled and have medical issues. To make a long story short, had a jury duty call and if you need to be excused you need to report to the court at 9:30am. Well after last time I got there early about 9:10, I sat and sat an they didn’t call for people who want to be excused, like they did last time. So then the judge called for a break. Help, I have been sitting here with no medicine, no food and thought I would be in and out excused or not. I asked one of the ladies and she told the bailiff. He came over to me and said we called that out 1st thing this morning. I showed him the paper that stated 9:30am, he said just repeated the same like I was crazy. When the judge came back in, he told him so they finished up a few more cases and called me up. I said the same thing to the judge and he just went on to my issues. He did apologize, and said he was sorry and he wish the best for me. Then I had to wait for my husband to pick me up and there was no where to sit when I left the courtroom. So I had to go outside and wait on a bench. I finally calmed myself, I had been excused. But after getting in the car and seeing our doggie and husband smile at me, I felt so much better. I still have cramp in my leg and hip where I had to sit for so long. I have to get up every 30 minutes or I get stiff. Thanks for asking. Hope your day was good. 🙂

Well, life has been going on pretty normally here. My brother has been taking my niece & nephews out to see their Grandpa every day after school (he is in the final stages of cancer.) Their Mom is staying out there to help care for him (she’s a nurse, so she can actually help.) It just feels odd how day to day life goes on when someone you know is dying.

Finally, my Mum’s out of hospital & rehab after her op & stroke. She’s so thrilled to be home and it will certainly be easier for me to have her here so we’re just going to take it nice & easy for a few days – ah! 🙂

I went to the occupational therapy dept. with Mum today & she practiced getting in & out of the shower, using sharp knives, boiling a kettle and they had this marvellous mock-up of a car (actually the real passenger side of a family saloon) so that she can see if she can get in & out, use the seat belt etc. Every day is another day closer to coming home!

Ah, what a day. The weather is actually pretty good. It’s just depressing because someone we know has been told nothing more can be done for their cancer. Of course, you just want to yell “That’s not fair!” So, a gray cloud hangs over everything. It feels like you can’t really do anything to help…but you ought to be doing something, you know?

Thanks, Kate. I’m really worried about how this is going to affect my niece (12) & nephews (7 & 11)–because this is their grandpa. (My brother’s wife’s dad.) Well today we cleaned underneath the refrigerator. We took off the grates and really gave it an internal cleaning. First time in 10 years, and OMG this stuff can ruin your refrigerator and cause fires because they overheat. Not a pretty day.

I’m so tired travelling up & down to Mum in hospital that I really can’t tell how I’m feeling. She’s improving little by little but can’t understand that she’s had a couple of strokes so has to stay for assessment & rehab before they’ll let her home. Anyway, all the test results came back and she is now cancer free – YAY!

Oh dear, there was me looking forward to a day off as my sister said she’d go & spend some time with Mum in hospital but she’s got a cold so can’t go. Mum said she’d be fine but then they moved her to a stroke rehab unit and she’s just rung me all befuddled & teary. Even if I left now, I wouldn’t get there before 8pm, just time to give her a peck on the cheek, turn around & drive all the way home. I’m hoping I’ll be able to calm her over the phone.

Had a good day today. Did all my chores and was able to finish binge watching the AWESOME British tv series Line of Duty. I highly recommend this show! I was at the edge of my seat during the final episode. Can’t praise it enough! 🙂

I’ve had a really bad day but am trying to stay positive. Mum’s short-term memory isn’t good at all and it’s frightening how the body can just stop functioning. Still have to stay strong and give her all the reassurance and love that I can muster.

Kate, when my Mom had heart failure in the late 70s, she had a series of heart failures in the hospital that affected her short term memory, too. She had no memory that she was divorced, for example. It did eventually come back to her, though. Hopefully, the same will be true for your Mom! Almost 3 years ago my Mom had a bad fall & needed surgery. Afterward, she nearly died several times, due to organs failing, septic shock, etc. She pulled through, and so can your Mom! You’re right, it is frightening. It is emotionally exhausting, too. Take care of yourself, too, & stay strong!

My day was okay, but nothing great. It seems like a lot of people are having a hard time lately! I’ve never been a money-obsessed person but I live in the SF bay area and my rent just went up to $2,075 a month for a one bedroom. I already work two jobs and I’m exhausted with struggling to keep up.

Things are just not going well here. Mum had surgery last Friday and has had 2 strokes which have affected her short-term memory and now her sight. It’s been really upsetting as she couldn’t work out why she was in hospital but it’s coming back very slowly. just a case of fingers crossed for the next couple of days.

Today is better than yesterday for sure. The vet decided that the insulin my kitty is on may be working and we are going to hold off on that uber expensive kind and up his dose on the current affordable kind. We will see where we are in two weeks.

My day is not going super. The vet told me that we need to switch our cat to an isulin that costs $250 a vial and we can’t afford that. Not sure what we are going to do at this point.
