NOW That’s What I Call A Vacation!!
WHEW! THAT was the heck of a vacation. California, New York, Boston, Washington, California and then home. A little over 3 weeks. Walking into my front door and the quiet was AWESOME!! I immediately headed for my comfy orthopedic slippers and my pajamas. I was (AM exhausted!) I really was ready for the quiet mountain. 32 kids! That’s a lotta noise. 32 TEENS! That gave me much more respect for teachers. I do NOT know how they do it. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!! On PURPOSE!?!?!?
The folks at Apple Student Tours know how to pack a LOT of activities into a day. All the paperwork said “lots of walking.” Wear comfortable shoes. What exactly is a lot of walking? Between 6 and 7 miles a day. Yes, you read that correctly. SIX OR SEVEN MILES A DAY! I am so proud of myself!! Not only did I keep up, BUT, I was never the last one! Can I get a hallelujah?!?! I did us fellow G’ma’s proud!
If you are new here, my Granddaughter Alice asked if I would accompany her on the 8th Grade Class Trip. New York, Boston, and Washington. I couldn’t say yes fast enough.
I had an excellent time. So many beautiful places. So much good food AND a room to myself every night. Hello! I highly recommend Apple Student Tours.
The Vietnam War Memorial hit me the hardest. Seeing all those names. Quickly followed by The 9/11 Memorial. I did myself a favor and didn’t wear eye makeup that day. Very smart move on my end.
I LOVED New York. LOVED it!! Found my favorite building E-V-E-R! The Louis Vuitton building. Seriously, LOOK at the size of that building! So dang cool!!
Came home and tucked my feet into these orthopedic slippers and my feet sighed! Comfortable AND WARM! Why is warm a major point??? BeCAUSE I got home and in Sandpoint, Idaho June 21st, 22nd and 23rd it’s not hit 50°!! I’m freezing!!!!!!! What is HAPPENING?!?! 49° as a daytime high??!?! NOT happy!! Not happy at all. But my feet are warm and comfy.
I know that looking at other peoples vacation photos are kinda boring but I’m adding them anyway. Cause I can. HA!!
Speed boat ride to see The Statue of Liberty was SO much fun.
Alice allowed me one selfie in one of the old cemeteries ( I LOVE cemeteries!!) before she declared “that’s just too weird. I’m out”
The kids learned dance/song moves from the REAL actors in the Broadway play “The Outsiders” The play is FANTASTIC! I highly recommend seeing it.
Watched the Red Sox beat the Angels. Road a donkey backwards. (was quiet proud of myself when not only did I get UP there but also off without falling!
We even made it to the window for the last day Good Morning America was in the old building. Watch at the left for my little gray head bobbing up and down.
Now, I need a nap. YES, AGAIN. Yes, ANOTHER nap. AND I’m still freezing. 48° right now at almost 1 in the afternoon! Gesh!!

Looks like you had a lot of fun and saw many awesome things. I’ve always kind of wanted to go to New York but I’ve been told not to go because it’s so dangerous. I can see you in the video.

I had the BEST TIME!! However, all those 14-year-olds? AHHHHHHHHH I have a nervous tick now.

That was one epic trip for sure! I have been to several of these places but a few on the list that I would still like to visit. It was good to read that you got your own room each night. I could have lasted maybe a few days to be honest! I don’t think I can walk 6-7 miles a day and survive all that noise. Glad you are back home safe and sound.

I did learn that I don’t have the patience for 14 year olds….. at least not THAT many. Every. Day. Teachers are NUTS!!

Oh, I see you in the GMA video! I still can’t believe this is a school trip! I mean, in my day, our school trips were one day at the waterpark type things, lol.

RIGHT!??!? We went to the MOVIES!!! NOT across country. So, I’m counting this trip as the 8th Grade class trip I never got to take. HA!!
