Perfume, Cologne Eau de Toilette Do You Know The Difference??? @scentbeauty #scentguru

I am here to answer all some wait.. maybe a few of your questions. I am truly no expert. I know what I like and I like to smell good.

FIRST, I like a very subtle scent. I don’t want to smell like I bathed in a bottle of perfume. I like subtle.

So, on to the difference between perfume, cologne and eau de toilette. Basically, all fragrances are the same, but the name tells you the concentration of oil in alcohol and water.

Fragrance is a big ole unisex term for any smelly substance that has fragrance oil diluted in alcohol and water. So, depending on the concentration, the result gets a different name.

First, Eau Fraiche is a term I’ve never even heard of. Have you?? Maybe because this one only has one to three percent perfume oil. Meaning this one is only going to last for an hour or LESS!! Ummmm this one is not for me. Less than an hour??

Cologne. Okay, this one almost all of us are familiar with. It’s also the oldest term for fragrances. This one will last two or more hours because it’s made up of two to four percent perfume oils in alcohol and water.

Eau de Toilette PLEASE tell me that I’m not the only one that occasionally (okay, always) called this toilet water. (I KNOW, no matter how old I get, I’m still immature!) This one will last you at least three hours or more with 15 percent pure perfume essence dissolved in alcohol.

Eau de Parfum This one describes both women’s and men’s fragrances. With 15 to 20 percent pure perfume essence you can expect 5 to 8 hours of fragrance.

Last and ohhhhhh so not least. Perfume. Of course, the most expensive of all the different fragrances. This has the most concentration of pure perfume essence with 20 to 30 percent.  A single application of perfume can last up to 24 hours.
