Touch The Earth written by Julian Lennon. Yes, THAT Lennon!! Julian Lennon is a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, photographer, documentarian and philanthropist. Julian Lennon founded the global environmental and humanitarian organization The White Feather Foundation whose key initiatives are education, health, conservation and protection of indigenous culture.
Touch The Earth is the debut book of Julian Lennon written with Bart Davis and illustrated by Smiljana Coh. There are two additional books in the works now to be released for the next 2 Earth Day Celebrations.
Jump on the White Feather Flier, a magical plane that can transport you anywhere you want! I love that this book is interactive in a way. The books encourage kids to tilt the book North, South, East, West, shake the book or push buttons. Reading the book to Alice I neglected to shake the book when I was instructed and had to go back and fix my mistake. It’s a fun book AND it’s an educational one as well.
The book is written in easy to understand wording to help teach children about important lessons like, clean water. Explaining that not every one in the world HAS clean water! With the help of things like a filtration system there are ways to get clean water to those people.
The book helps teach kids a wonderful lesson for Earth Day and everyday beyond. Do your part to keep the earth clean!! It’s important!
Something else that I love about this book is the single white feather embossed on the hardcover. Not to mention that all proceeds from the sale of Touch the Earth go to the White Feather Foundation.
The story is entertaining. The illustrations are so cute!! The message is a wonderful one!! The last page is a poem written by Julian Lennon that would have made an amazing Beatles Song!
