Watercolour Book & App Review

Today I’m thrilled to share my review of Watercolour by Viktoria Maksymova. Viktoria has 18 years of experience teaching art to children and adults in the Ukraine and Australia. Together with her husband Vyacheslav Frolov they have created an app that fills me with hope that I can learn to paint!

This app is so beautifully written. Watching Viktoria paint is a thing of beauty!!  So between Viktoria and the music in the background it’s mesmerizing to watch.  I’ve watched this same video a couple dozen times and each time I see something new, then I get so caught up in the artistry, that I forget I am supposed to be watching the strokes so that I can attempt to paint the same rose. To teach us to paint the book shows the painting done in stages and each time a part of the painting is complete I think “WOW that’s so stunning! I want this picture as my screen saver” and then……. here comes Viktoria and her paintbrush again and she adds more elements and more dimension to the flowers that it’s more stunning than the last shot.  I truly do not get bored watching Viktoria paint!

Viktoria and Vyacheslav explain the brush strokes, how to load the brush with colors. Adding small touches to leaves and the stem of the roses.  You can tell that Viktoria and Vyacheslav have put their heart and soul into this project.

I often hear: “I’m not sure – I think I have no talent for painting!”

Yes, we may not be as talented as Shakespeare but that does not stop our desire to speak, write, or to declare love, nor does it make us dumb.
Therefore, let’s set our insecurities about own imperfections aside and begin to learn how to express our emotions with the brush and paint! And remember it seems to be “scary” and “difficult” only when you do not know how to do it … It is just as difficult to write a word when you do not know the letters.

So let’s learn!
This book includes seven fascinating lessons in watercolour painting with interactive elements and video inserts:

1. Basic brushstrokes
2. Feather brushstroke
3. Roses and buds
4. Underpainting
5. Deciduous trees
6. Coniferous trees
7. Marine (seascape)

This book will help to develop your basic skills in Watercolour and allows you to feel freely and confident in this art technique. The interactive elements transform boring process of education (learning) into fun amusement. Video inserts give you full understanding how exactly you must to complete the exercises. This book will give voice to your emotions and improve your lifestyle, will be suitable for you and kids and your joyful time together.

I will be buying some watercolor paints and paper.  I know with this program I will be able to paint. The lessons are easy to follow. The directions are clearly written. Viktoria paints in layers so I can follow along. I’m blown away at how easy she makes painting look!!  Even if I can’t make a rose as spectacular as Viktoria’s I know I’ll have fun trying!!
You can grab this book on iTune Watercolour and connect with Viktoria & Vyacheslav  on Facebook
I give this book/app 2 very enthusiastic thumbs UP!!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
