Homemade Whipped Body Butter Recipe

Lotions and body butters are versatile products that can help moisturize your skin and leave it smooth and lightly scented. While they provide the same benefits, body butters are usually heavier than lotions and contain a higher amount of oil in their ingredients.

Whichever formula you choose, regular application can help keep your skin healthier and looking its best.

While the amount of lotions on the market ranges from tropical-scented Hawaiian lotions to readily available name-brand options, some people prefer the do-it-yourself method. This involves creating your own homemade lotions or body butter using all-natural and organic ingredients.

Going the do-it-yourself route is a great alternative, especially during the holiday season, when you can pass them out as gifts in small glass jars with a decorative ribbon tied around them.

The whipped body butter recipe listed below is simple and easy to complete, no matter what your homemade lotion experience is.

Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup of coconut oil
• 1 cup of cocoa butter
• 1/2 cup of jojoba or almond oil

Directions:

Step 1: Gently melt the coconut oil and cocoa butter together in a double boiler until they turn into a liquid.

Step 2: Stir the jojoba or almond oil into the liquid.

Step 3: Let the mixture chill in the fridge for several hours. The mixture should begin to firm but not turn completely solid. When it achieves this consistency, remove it from the refrigerator.

Step 4: Whip the semi-solid butter with a mixer — either a hand mixer or a standing mixer — until peaks begin to form.

Step 5: Carefully scoop the whipped body butter into small glass jars and let chill for about an hour in the refrigerator.

Considerations:

The homemade body butter will typically stay in its whipped consistency in moderate temperatures.

However, if it gets particularly hot in your home, you may want to consider storing it in the refrigerator. If the body butter melts, you can get it back to its whipped form by re-chilling and re-whipping.

Since the recipe creates a whipped body butter, it will leave a thin layer of oil when applied to your skin. While this may not sound pleasing to some, it can actually be extremely beneficial to your skin to allow it to soak up the organic ingredients in the homemade body butter.

Refreshing My Old Blog Posts: The Good, The Bad, and The 404s

Updating an old blog post is a lot like an archaeological dig. You expect a quick “dusting” and end up unearthing a series of questionable life choices from 2014.

I recently opened a “quick update” only to find:

  • Missing Images: Key tutorial steps now require “imagination.”
  • Dead Links: Half my brand partners have rebranded as “AI Crypto Collectives.”
  • Antique Fonts: Styles that haven’t been cool since the dial-up era.

Why I’m Optimizing This Blog

It’s not glamorous, but fixing broken links and whispering “Pick me!” to Google makes the site faster and easier for you to find. I’m not spiraling; I’m just cleaning up the blog ghosts.

this sounds really nice, and I would like to try making it. I like DIY and homemade items, if I could get it to come out good, I’d love to give little jars of it as gifts!
