March 2017 $50 Your Way! Single Blog Giveaway!

Congratulations goes out to Leana, the winner of my February $50 Your Way Giveaway.  Leana chose PayPal. (Sorry I forgot to update the name here in the giveaway! My bad!

So, my monthly update starts with some exciting news for me! I was interviewed by Laura J. Wellington, the CEO/Editor for THREAD MB. Yes, I am walking around with a swelled head and extra large ego right now. I hope you will check out THREAD MB “Where Social Media Moms & Celebrities Come Together To Do Good!”  (and Laura reached out to ME!! Yes, I am very giddy! AND HONORED!!)

February 2017 also saw a hail storm in Southern California. It was freaky weird! The sky just opened up and DROPPED hail. It was over in about 4 minutes! Done. The sky went from dark to blue. It was WEIRD!!

Looks like snow doesn’t it?

That was our big excitement in Vista for February.

My postcard MYSTERY is still a mystery. They stopped as mysteriously as they started and to this day no one will fess up.  Yes, still driving me insane!  And again I say. Brilliant joke. Brilliant.

Last but not least, before Christmas I bought myself a Cricut Machine. It’s so much FUN!! 5-year-old Alice and I have been creating designs for t-shirts and towels and well basically everything and anything I can find to slap some vinyl on. Every single occasion get’s celebrated with a t-shirt.  When Alice celebrated her 100th day of school last week and wanted to make a special t-shirt for the day I found the most adorable design:

Cute right?  Noooo according to Alice “that’s not what I have in mind”. (SHE’S FIVE people!) “Non can it just say 100? In fancy numbers?” So, finished t-shirt has a fancy 100 font printed in glitter silver vinyl. Nothing else. Just 100.

We are working on St. Patrick’s Day designs now, of course using glitter vinyl. You can never have too much glitter!  However, I have no idea what the final project will look like.

If you have another saying that would be cute for a Kindergartner please let me know! Even if it isn’t St. Patrick’s Day related.  We love playing with this machine!

So, that’s my monthly update and now in to the Giveaway!! My monthly $50 giveaway is my way of saying THANK YOU for being a follower! (Yes, I do just copy and paste the remainder of this post. I’m lazy! AND tired!!)

my day has gone good I love Fridays, it rained today and was cold but it made it better by smiling and going on

  • Sarah L

Good swim class and my friend picked me up since my car was in the shop. Pretty good news: bad water pump that they had installed so it was covered under their warranty. Still was $135 for oil change and alignment.

  • Tamra Phelps

Spring is definitely here because I’m really congested, ha. Well, at least I’m not freezing. I’ll take allergies over cold any time.

  • cjsoyer

Got more of my spring cleaning out of the way. Can you believe March is over already? Seriously summer is just around the corner! 🙂

  • Crissie woolard

Awesome giveaway. Hope you have an amazing weekend. I really enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for everything!

  • Kate Sarsfield

My very first boyfriend is 58 today! He’s a grandfather now as well – where have the years gone? Feeling reflective but trying to stay positive.

  • Sarah L

AARRGGHH!! Drove downtown for a DBG outreach program which was fun. However, my car overheated on the way down and I had to get a tow back to the mechanic’s place where it is now being looked over.

  • Ronald Oliver

It’s Thursday today, and it’s another day that I am thankful for. And I’m about to go for my morning walk with my dog. It’s a nice day out today..looking forward to enjoying it!

  • michele

Ok enough being grateful for my life.. ceiling cleaning today and for the next 3 days….yuck.. thank goodness I have a great helper.. all I do is hold the ladder and that is what I am complaining about.. wow Michele you are something else!! LOL

  • Susanti

it’s not really a nice day since i was buying food and it started to rain and i had to run through the rain to be able to go home ?

  • Kate Sarsfield

Rain, rain, go away, come again another day! I’ve got a mountain of laundry to do but there’s no let up in the misty rain of the last couple of days & I can’t use the tumble dryer. No matter how hard I try or what products I use I still get static shocks off the dried clothes. There’s no fun in being zapped all day long 🙁

  • Sarah L

Good swim class with a friend who hasn’t been coming for several months. She goes to another warm water pool that is closed this week.

  • cjsoyer

Beautiful sunny day. Got some outside chores done…. Also did this strenuous workout routine and now my arms feel like lead and I can barely move them…

  • Tamra Phelps

It’s a pretty nice day here. The weather is nice. I guess I get an evening alone tonight since Mom has to go for a sleep study that her doctor ordered. They’re trying to decide why her oxygen levels aren’t staying level.

  • Nancy

We are having a lovely day. Our grandbaby is with us today. A chicken is cooking in the slow cooker so dinner is half made.

  • Rosie

My day is going OK. I’m looking at monokinis on poshmark, however I haven’t worn the last two bathing suits yet, always need to lose a few pounds, etc.

  • michele

Sitting in the gallery this morning with hubby and coffee and thinking of all the ways I have been blessed and protected all these years.. I did some crazy things when I was young and survived and learned from all those errors…..Grateful…..

  • Kate Sarsfield

Oh Lord help us! Tonight’s rehearsal was an absolute disaster – too many divas doth spoil the plot, me thinks!

  • cjsoyer

Today was a beautiful day. Very sunny. I did some outside chores as well as my normal work routine. It was a good day.

  • Tamra Phelps

Why does Spring always bring bugs, lol. It seems that every Spring we have to spray outside the kitchen windows to keep the ants out. So, yesterday, I saw one (tiny little thing) on the counter! Time to spray. I hate bugs! Especially in my kitchen!

  • Ronald Oliver

My day is going good..though I wish that I was over this cold that I have. Not even a cold will stop me from having a good day! 🙂

  • sandra

I’ve been having experimental difficulties at work and I am getting anxious about my husband’s upcoming business trip. so a bit antsy today.

  • Rosie

OK. Reading articles how our local taxes may go up over 10% this year, town meetings, etc. Nobody wants to give up anything so the increase won’t be as much. Glad I’m not on the town council.

  • michele

Today is going great.. aside from clorox poisoning lol all is well.. bathroom clean.. lunch on and the rest of the day is mine

  • Rosie

My day is going OK. It is raining and my umbrella broke on my way walking. Now I’m online looking for umbrellas. Hope I can make it home without getting soaked.

  • cjsoyer

I was installing Windows on a computer and right in the middle of it, the power went. Very inconvenient and set me back a bit with what I was working on. 🙁

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’m so tired! I was up a couple of times with Mum in the night and now I can hardly keep my eyes open. Still, it’s another beautifully sunny day so I’m going out to get some fresh air in my lungs!

  • michele

Anew work week begins for many.. I cannot express how happy I am that retirement is my life now…..I never dreaded my jobs but my time is now my own.. chores and house work aside I can work on any and all projects that fulfill me….

  • cjsoyer

Relaxing Sunday that went by too fast! It was a good one. I slept in and then I did fun stuff! 🙂 Back to work tomorrow…

  • Ronald Oliver

Well, I awoke this morning with the return of the scratchy throat, and this time, it has remained somewhat scratchy, accompanied with slight congestion in my throat. But on the upside, I don’t feel too bad. I guess I finally got a mild cold, sadly. And now it’s time to work on getting rid of it as soon as possible. I hate getting sick! Even if it’s a mild cold. I just hope it doesn’t get any worse than it already is.

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, it’s pouring rain. I mean, really POURING! Oh, well, it’s Sunday & I don’t have to go out in the rain, so, I’ll just stay in, see what’s on TV, & maybe cook something.

  • Kate Sarsfield

It’s Mothering Sunday in the UK & Ireland so we got a takeaway last night as a treat and then got totally confused this morning as the hour went forward! Anyway, the weather is stunning & I’m heading off to another 4 hour rehearsal so I’ll miss it!

  • michele

I love Sunday .. wish I could make it to mass today but thats life you cannot always do what you want when you want…going to make it a great day today….feeling happy , positive and upbeat…

  • cjsoyer

Today was a good day. I did some research online and I did some low impact aerobics. Couldn’t take anything too high impact today. My feet need a break… 😉

  • Kate Sarsfield

Today’s weather is absolutely glorious and I’ve no rehearsal so it’s off out into the garden for some much needed pottering! Tonight we’re getting a takeaway as a treat for Mother’s Day (tomorrow) and hopefully won’t forget to turn the clocks forward!

  • michele

Enjoyed our day out yesterday.. today it is back to work bathing the pooches and laundry…..have to call a dear friend for her birthday…..

  • Kate Sarsfield

Thank heavens for a day and night off! AND the sun is shining! AND it’s yummy homemade pizza for dinner – can’t get much better than that 🙂

  • Tamra Phelps

Today, we are babysitting my youngest nephew. He is home sick, ‘feeling puny’ as my Granny used to say, ha. Well, our weather looks like Spring may have finally decided to arrive & actually stay. In the 70s today!

  • michele

Well today husband and I are going to the university to take in an agriculture expo…. they will be having workshops on aquaponics and hydroponics so it should be interesting….

  • Natalie

I am a little stressed about an unexpected medical bill I received today, but otherwise it is a pretty typical Friday.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I took Mum for a check-up after her stroke last year. When asked ‘what year is it?’ she answered 1979. I can’t stop thinking about it & worrying.

    • Tamra Phelps

I know what you mean. My Grandma had a series of small strokes in her later years & often had no idea what year it was, etc. She once woke me up in the middle of the night insisting the news was saying there was a war & it was happening in a few states around us & she was worried about her sister in Florida. It turned out to be a movie about the American Civil War. All I can tell you is that it did seem to get better after a while. She still had memory problems, & some days were better than others, but she was physically well & except for her memory issues she was mentally functioning. (By which I mean that she might’ve been unaware of the year but she had no trouble performing daily tasks, etc.) I hope your Mum is feeling better!

      • Kate Sarsfield

Oh Tamra, what would I do without you? She got everything else perfect but insisted on the year. She had an oxygen test like you suggested and is fine so at least that’s one thing to cross off the list. She’s being referred to a gerontologist for further tests so that we can have a base line to compare future developments against. Now I’m worrying if it’s the onset of dementia. However, I guess at almost 84 she’s not doing too badly! Thanks for all your comments, they mean a lot xxx

        • Tamra Phelps

I worried about dementia with my Grandma, too (Alzheimer’s runs in that branch of the family tree.) But the doctor told me “Alzheimer’s Disease is not when you can’t remember where you put your keys or even what a key is for, it’s when you look at a key & don’t recognize it as a key.”—Sometimes, after a stroke, he said, you just lose certain memory functions. I think your Mom is amazing at 84. I mean, she’s battled cancer & won, and fought back from a stroke! She must be a strong lady.

  • Tamra Phelps

Oh, boy, I’ve been really congested & coughing the last few days. I hope I’m not getting another cold just as the weather starts to warm up. Ugh. Hopefully, it’s just allergies.

  • Ronald Oliver

I awoke early this morning with a slight scratchy throat..but then it went away as I was getting ready for the day. I think it’s allergies. But I feel fine now. My wife has been sick twice now in just a handful of months, and I’ve escaped getting sick so far..so, so far..so good! 🙂

  • Sarah L

Good swim class. Then off to the library where I made the librarians chuckle. I asked for my sick book… Huh? Says right here I have an ILL book on hold. (that’s interlibrary loan…)

  • cjsoyer

Pretty rainy today… I didn’t mind it though. My work was inside so the weather didn’t interfere. It was dark and cozy. 🙂

  • Rosie

Not so good. It is back to being really cold and very windy. The wind caused a tree to fall on a school bus and killed the bus driver this morning.

  • michele

today I have to myself.. I deserve it after 2 days of gardening….so working on Easter recipes and doing all the little things around that I want to do…

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’ve got another long rehearsal tonight so got up early(ish!) and got lots of little jobs done. You know the ones you keep saying you’ll do one day? And when you finally get around to doing them they only take a short time & you wonder why you kept putting them off? Yes, those kind of jobs!

  • kath g

Today was an good day, had to go grocery shopping – not one of my favorite things to do, but it’s done, so I can avoid it again for a little while, so that’s good. I’m content, no complaints.

  • Kate Sarsfield

The weather’s taken a turn for the worse & the gritters are out in full force on the main roads. It’s cold!

  • Rosie

My day is going good. I’m happy it is spring, and for the first time since last fall I wore my sneakers instead of boots – yippeee!!!

  • michele

Working in the garden again today why don’t I have a gardener???? LOL hopefully I will be done early and get to do some kitchen curtain changing this afternoon….

  • cjsoyer

I’m a bit of a pack rat.. I hate to throw things away because i am always concerned I might need it one day. Well that mentality served me well because I needed an old appliance yesterday for something.. and what I needed it for still worked and I was able to accomplish it! Sometimes keeping old things isn’t always a bad thing! 😀

  • Tamra Phelps

How can this be the first day of Spring, lol? It’s rainy & a little chilly & overall, very gray out there. Could be worse. It could be snowing. (Yikes!)

  • Kate Sarsfield

Happy International Happiness Day everyone; although sometimes it’s hard to find a reason to feel happy I really have so much to be grateful for compared to so many.

  • Ronald Oliver

Today is another fantastic day..we’re going to the movie theater to see Kong: Skull Island! It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun!

  • michele

Getting ready to go out and garden.. thank goodness I work along with my hubby because I need someone to keep me going… gardening is not my forte….

  • cjsoyer

It’s Monday… whoopee! LOL. Back to work, and I am determined to get more done. Been slacking because of my health issues but I feel better physically and more focused.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Crazy day today: 8 hours of rehearsals! Still real progress is being made. Only 2 more weeks of rehearsing then 7 nights of performances, the wrap party and it’s all over for another year!

  • Ronald Oliver

I just got my hair cut (my wife cuts my hair) and it helps save us money..and that’s a good thing. It’s a great day!

  • michele

Happy it is Sunday and a total relaxing day.. After making the Sunday meal I plan on reading, listening to music and just enjoying the day….

  • Sarah L

Busy day. First a Townhall meeting with my state senator & reps. Then a 90 minute massage. Then a birthday open house for a friend who is now 98.

  • cjsoyer

No energy at all today… So I sorted my disorganized audiobook collection. Now everything is tagged and sorted properly. 😀

  • michele

just ready to wind down for the afternoon… laundry then washed the dining room windows and hung Easter curtains there.. wanted to do the kitchen and drawing room also but I have had enough.. going to eat lunch then relax for the reminder of the day….

  • Tamra Phelps

well, I thought I would sleep in this morning but I woke up to sirens a little before 7. Apparently, a house on the corner had a fire. It must not have been too bad because the firetrucks were only there about 20 minutes. Now it’s only about 2 p.m. & I’m yawning, lol.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I sold my car today and gave the money to my sister – it nearly broke my heart, but it’s only fair as I’ve got Mum’s car now that she can no longer drive. I hated handing over all that cash!

  • Sarah L

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Had a good swim class with one new person. I’m wearing green and will be having corned beef & cabbage that I cooked in the crock pot.

  • Tamra Phelps

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone. It’s way too cold to go to any parades, though. I’m spending the day in front of the TV, lol.

  • michele

Well looking at all the groceries I did not put away yesterday so I better get moving.. bulk shopping is wonderful but taking the time to store and inventory everything is another day.. thats fine no outside today… Happy St Patricks Day to all…

  • Kate Sarsfield

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from The Emerald Isle! The weather turned cold & blustery as it does on this day every year & I had to drive Mum to Church to play the organ so I’m chilled to the bone and tired already and it’s only 11am! Never mind, there are what should be a couple of excellent rugby matches on telly later and all I’m cooking is pizza so it should be a fairly relaxing day! Oh, and chocolate, I plan on eating/sharing a box of chocs that we were given at Christmas & I hid!

  • Sarah L

Quiet day at home. Spent some time calling my senators & reps about the health care bill and funding for the EPA and the arts.

  • Tamra Phelps

I swear I woke up more tired than when I went to bed last night. I’ve been tired & yawning ever since, lol. I have no right to be so tired…I haven’t done a thing today.

  • cjsoyer

Kinda sleepy today even though I slept all night. I am enjoying my day… it’s quiet and I am listening to an audiobook while I work. 🙂

  • Nancy

Our day is going just fine. The temperature got down to 19 degrees last night. It is nice to see the sun and have the weather warm up, even just a little bit.

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’ve just found out the reason why our tiny village is having it’s own St. Patrick’s Day Parade tomorrow. Apparently, the village’s oldest resident, aged 97, had always wanted to lead a Parade! Everyone has pulled out all the stops & she will ride in an open-topped vintage car at the head of a marching band & sundry floats followed by cups of tea & ‘hang’ sandwiches in the village hall! How sweet is that!

  • michele

Off to bulk shop and do the mall.. I do love these shopping days and it is rainy so I find that is the best time to shop!

  • Tamra Phelps

We are still freezing cold here, but no snow. Still, for some bizarre reason there was no school today. Yep, they called off school because of snow—and there is NO SNOW, lol.

  • cjsoyer

Very hard to get out of bed today…. Had a residual headache from the day before. All went well at the doctors, and my test results were good so I had a good day.

  • Tamra Phelps

Argh! I’m so tired of cold. And of weather that goes from Below freezing to Springtime & back to freezing. I’m ready for Spring. At least we escaped that snow that swept across the states North of us. And that mess sweeping through the Northeast.

  • michele

Eye Sx went perfectly.. All is truly well and I am so grateful and happy.. A few days of blurries and light sensitivity and 3 weeks of drops and I will see as well as is possible for me…

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’m spending the day cooking meals & freezing them so that Mum has something nutritious at hand for when I’m rehearsing for The King and I. Left to herself she’d probably just eat chocolate biscuits and crisps (potato chips)!

  • Tamra Phelps

Another cold day here in KY. Just a few more, though, & it looks like Spring will be back, lol. Hopefully, it stays this time.

  • Kate Sarsfield

Beautiful Spring weather again today so I made the most of it & washed all the sheets & pillow cases. Great to be able to dry them in the fresh air!

  • Ronald Oliver

Such a nice day out..Spring is in the air! Perfect temps.. And if I could keep it just like it has been these past few days, all year round, I certainly would!

  • michele

Today is my 3rd eye surgery.. Granted tis one is a yag laser but still I am anxious to get it over with….I hope this is the last one…

  • Tamra Phelps

It’s just a typical Sunday here in KY. Well, it’s freezing. Winter has finally arrived when Spring ought to be getting here. My youngest nephew is over here playing computer games & getting his Granny to cook bacon for him, lol. Basically, just a lazy Sunday.

  • Nikki Ooi

I’m sad really. It’s Sunday night, almost midnight, that means it’s almost time to go back to work. Not a good thing

  • Kate Sarsfield

Ugh! Still awake at 7a.m. However, life goes on & things get done – the sun’s been out so I did a bit of gardening & now cooking lunch before heading off for a 4-hour rehearsal.

  • Tee Anderson

Today I ran some errands. We had the house powerwashed as we are going to get it painted this week. I dropped my son off at a birthday party. Nothing too exciting.

  • cjsoyer

Today went by very fast. I woke up and next thing I know it was time to have dinner. I literally don’t know where the time went.

  • Tamra Phelps

Wow, it’s freezing today! We have had such a mild Winter & it has been in the 60s & 70s recently–even the pear trees were blooming! So, of course, now that it’s almost Spring, Winter has decided to hit big time, lol. Oh, well, I’m inside, just spending the day watching TV, surfing the web & trying to keep up with my 7 year old nephew.

  • michele

Have today to myself.. laundry then baking some cookies for a neighbors birthday.. 3 kinds then I shall jar them up pretty…

  • cjsoyer

It poured all morning and it got quite cool, now the sun is shining and turned out to be a beautiful sunny afternoon! 🙂

  • Ronald Oliver

I just got back from walking my dog, and now I am enjoying a cup of coffee, and entering your awesome giveaway! My day is going great!

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’m just quietly pottering about waiting for Mum to wake up but there’s a big rugby match tonight on telly so I want to get all the housework done in time!

  • cjsoyer

Today’s been good. I got all my work done and I lost about 3 pounds since my last weigh in. I would like to lose 13-15 more! 🙂

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, the day’s only half gone, but it’s been pretty nice so far. The sun is shining, it’s in the 60s & I’m enjoying it before we have another cold spell this weekend.

  • Ronald Oliver

I lost some sleep last night..just one of those nights where I kept waking up. But otherwise, I’m having a good day today.

  • Kate Sarsfield

The sun shone today and boy, was it needed. My spirits are now raised and I feel a whole lot better than I have been lately.

  • michele

Woke up this morning feeling so grateful for the life I have.. there have been bumps along the way… some really rough… but hey that is what gives you strength and character….

  • Tamra Phelps

Well, this was a pretty nice day. There wasn’t much going on. Mixed up some chocolate chip cookies for my nephews and did a lot of nothing.

  • Ronald Oliver

It’s another great day and the sun is shining, and it almost feels like Spring, except it’s still cold out. So my day is going great!

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’m beginning to think I’m going round the bend. I got back after choir practice last night to find that Mum had taken down all the pictures & photos off the walls (including some BIG paintings). ‘Ready for the decorator’, she said. What decorator? When? There is no decorator. Welcome to my world…………..

    • Tamra Phelps

Is she OK, Kate? My Mom had some spells like that a while back & it turned out that her oxygen level was too low (which is why she’s on oxygen now.) If you think this is more than just a bit of forgetfulness, you might want to ask the doctor to check her oxygen levels. (Not trying to butt in! Feel free to tell me to buzz off, lol. Just thought I’d mention it.)

      • Kate Sarsfield

I never thought of that Tamra. A couple of things have happened lately that have had me worried but this was completely new for her. She’s put some of them back but says she doesn’t need pictures, she has her memories, which is true too. It was just the suddenness of it that startled me. Of course it might just be her way of dropping not too subtle hints that I need to get painting!

  • michele

My day is packed today with outside work.. thank goodness that we are on a lenten fast because I would have no time to make a nice dinner today…..

  • Ronald Oliver

My day is going great! I just got back from my daily routine of walking my dog (and myself). The sun is out today, and it’s a nice clear day! I love it! 🙂

  • Kate Sarsfield

I went to bed tired out, woke up a couple of times in the night, got back to sleep, the phone rang at 7am, got back to sleep, finally got up at 9.00 and I’m still tired and feeling completely without motivation and listless. My va-va-voom has va-va-gone!

  • michele

Husband going on errands for me today so I have a chance to catch up on inside work… why doesn’t a house stay clean??? Dust all the time LOL….

  • Kate Sarsfield

I had to drive for 6 hours today in pouring rain & 70mph winds – not nice! Just chilling now with a mug of my homemade tomato soup!

  • cjsoyer

My allergies kicked into high gear.. sneezing and all that… it was terrible. I don’t think I will ever be a big fan of spring…

  • Ronald Oliver

Today is Monday, and I am once again, doing fine. Sitting here drinking my coffee and enjoying this new day! 🙂

  • Ronald Oliver

Today I an doing great, again! I’m sitting hear in the comfort of my home, entering your awesome giveaway..no complaints at all! 🙂

  • Kate Sarsfield

I’ve been sick in bed for the last couple of days. Getting caught in a sleet storm obviously isn’t good for the health! Still shivery.

  • michele

Starting out as a rainy Sunday.. I love that.. cuddle up in my chair in the gallery.. watch the rain and read.. what more can I ask for?

  • michele

Bottled 30 red wine yesterday.. today is 15 bottles of white.. then we should be caught up till after Lent….
When I look around and see how lucky we are compared to most I feel blessed and grateful for my life…..

  • Tamra Phelps

I had to get up early to get Mom’s oxygen (portable kind) ready for her trip to the doctor. I’m getting fed up with doctors. Mom is having some trouble keeping her oxygen level up (should be in the 90s but staying in the 80s)–but they can’t seem to figure out why. She does have congestive heart failure, so she is on oxygen but she used to be able to move around the house without it for a while. Suddenly, she can’t. Well, she has an appt. with a specialist but can’t get in until up in April. Hopefully, he can find the reason.

  • cjsoyer

Today was good… finished spring cleaning in my room. I still have to sort out the closet though. Procrastinating on that one….

My day is going good. I have a lot to be grateful for..my health, my loving wife of 18+ years, a roof over my head, food, clothing, our family dog! Life is great!

I worked and then I attempted to clean out my closet. God it’s a mess. It’ll take me days to sort out everything and throw stuff I don’t need away….

Well, March is here & I’m just hoping the weather stays fairly nice. I do not want one of those crazy March snow storms. After coming in like a big pack of lions, March needs to calm down!

Well, my day started out cold and just got a lot colder. Sleet, being the order of the day. That’s 2 days in a row that I’ve tried to get to Dad’s grave but both times failed.

It’s night time here and I am resting in bed, watching a movie, getting ready to close my eyes soon and say my prayers!
    I’m feeling very content!

Wow. Last night we had horrible storms. Thunder, lightning, hail, 60 mph winds. They woke me up at 3, 5 & 7 a.m. Then, I spent the day with my 2 nephews because school was called off (yep, it was that bad…you don’t want kids on buses in those winds.)

I spent the day practising my music/songs for The King & I and choir.

Any of you remember seeing Yul Brynner & Deborah Kerr in the original film? We had an LP of the soundtrack until the last house move when the box containing Dad’s vinyls got sprayed on by the local tom cat! How I miss the cover … the ‘Shall We Dance?’ scene with THE dress! We managed to rescue the original vinyls of ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Carousel’, ‘West Side Story’, etc. but I haven’t used the turntable since Dad died.

Funny how life works out … the K & I director asked me how I knew all the words to the script … long story but, remember, in those days there was no internet, CDs, mobile phones, You Tube, Spotify etc. We played those LPs every now & then and sang along to Mum on piano & 2nd soprano, H. taking the 1st. soprano line and me singing ‘way down there’.

Even when Mum drove us to school, it was 3-part harmony all the way.

Do you know what? I have so much to be thankful for.

It sounds like you do! I had a box full of old vinyl, too (mine, my Mom’s & my Grandma’s—everything from Springsteen to the Beatles to old Hank Williams.) When we moved in 1995 from the house I grew up in that box just never showed up. I went back to the house, dug through the dumpster at our new place…looked everywhere. Never found it.

Aw … and you say to yourself, well, at least nothing was broken and I know all the words anyway … but you know what? You’ll regret the loss of that piece of your history till, well, I was going to say, your dying day, but will try to keep upbeat. Like the bust of Wagner that always sat on top of the piano (last seen in the late ’60s move from Dublin to Birr, in the midlands, or the Singer sewing machine that I got my index finger caught in when I was four that disappeared somewhere on our way back up to Dublin. Still, we have known them, we have those wonderful memories, others haven’t, so I still count myself lucky.

Our electricity and Internet connection is back on & up so I am extremely happy! I really am getting quite tired of rain and gloomy days! But I feel so SORRY for our neighboring areas and states!! I’m praying that they recover from their loses soon!
