I really think I am getting the hand of this indoor gardening thing. It’s actually rather addicting isn’t it?? I love how healthy my plants are looking. I can actually see new growth!! My orchid flowers are still blooming!!
Earlier this week I showed you a sneak peak of my new green flower pots. Today, I’m giving you all the details on how they are helping my indoor gardening setup.
This set of 2 flower pots one is 6″ and the other is 5″. Cute little mushroom design cut out. SO cute! The perfect color for my cactus plants. ON SALE at Walmart RIGHT NOW! While these are technically Ceramic Orchid Pots, I thought perhaps they would help solve a major indoor gardening problem: my habit of overwatering my cactus and succulents. I figured let’s try these? Right? Right!
Indoor Gardening: The Difference Between A Succulent and A Cactus:
Just a quick little lesson that I just learned. While there’s a difference between cacti and succulents, they’re also closely related. “Cactus” denotes a botanical family. Succulents are a broader group referring to a type of plant included in several botanical families. While all cacti are considered to be succulents, some succulents are not cacti.
For my new pots, one now holds an Aloe plant, and the other has a cactus. Beautiful design, gorgeous color. Matching tray. What more could you ask for??
Now the cactus and succulent will NEVER have smelly roots from over watering. (Ewwwww that was a gross repotting adventure). I TOLD you I kill plants! Never on purpose. I truly go between so much water they learn to swim or I forget them until I see them wilted with no will to live.
Doesn’t everyone look so healthy and happy?? Well, NOT everyone. BUT I’m still hopeful.
Dealing With Stubborn Indoor Gardening Plants
I still have one stubborn cactus. Remember the GG cactus? Yeah, that puppy WILL NOT GROW!!
My Daughter-in-law Amber? Her GG cactus is so prolific she chops off pieces to give to friends and family all over Southern California. She is so sweet, she tells people the ONLY way they get at cutoff is to name the cactus GG. (That was my Mom’s grandma name.
This cactus loved my Mom. Hates me. LOVES Amber. HATES me. LOVES Selena. HATES ME!) THIS?? This is 10 YEARS of growth?!?! It just HATES! ME!! However, I will NOT give up! GG will GROW! Damn IT GG! Grow!
I ONLY Want TO Indoor Garden FROM Now On
We shall never speak of the outdoor garden. Like EVER!! My indoor garden is so pretty. I only want to revel in my green thumb.
The outside…. well, that sucker has weeds taller than WALTER! It’s embarrassing. Thank heavens I live on a mountain and no one except the UPS driver ever sees the yard. I think he is too worried about other things to notice. Right? I mean in what 3 months it will all be covered in snow anyway. Maybe next year.
