LEGOLAND Waterpark!! #LEGOLANDCA
Summ… summm…. summer TIME!!! (be very glad I didn’t record me singing that intro!!) With 54 days of summer break left Alice and I enjoy a couple visits a week to LEGOLAND® California Resort and of course straight back to the Water Park!! LEGOLAND Water Park just gets bigger, better and wetter every year. We can’t wait for the Surfers’ Cove to open! Right now though we adore the wave pool, the lazy river is my allllllllll time favorite place!! There are water slides everywhere. Tons and tons of lounge chairs for a little time out. However, my favorite thing about the LEGOLAND water park? The life guards. There are TONS of life guards that truly WATCH the pools. We go a LOT during the summer and I’ve never seen the life guards chatting together or goofing on. They are ever vigilant to the swimmers. I don’t feel like I must have my eyes on 6-year-old Alice each and every single second; which as fast as that little fish swims it’s a really good thing. I truly doubt there is a spot anywhere in the Water Park that you can’t see at least 3 life guards scanning the water. The LEGOLAND California…

Fighting these feelings can be incredibly difficult, especially if being a mother has been your main sense of fulfillment over the past few years. So, what can you do to both keep yourself busy and make sure that you make the most of your kids’ time away? Thankfully, you have no shortage of options regardless of your family’s situation. Rethink Your Career and Finances Although making major career or financial decisions as you get older might seem like a backwards tip, the fact remains that it’s never too late. Summer Fun With Outdoor Movies!!
Summer fun! Summer boredom busters Y’all know that I am trying to find things to do with 6-year-old Alice this summer. So the first thing we did was sit down and make a list of things we wanted to do. Then we cut all the ideas into strips and put them in a container. We have tons of things; going to the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND, San Diego Safari Park, movies, tons of pool and beach days. Several of our ideas have multiple strips. I’ve mentioned before that I try everything I can to stretch out the activities so that I’m not pulling my hair out by 11am. First I let Alice sleep until she wakes up on her own. Some mornings it’s 9 or 9:30!! Then has to decide what’s for breakfast and help me fix it. Then clean up the kitchen. WOW now it’s what 10am? We work on our school notebooks, math, writing and then she has to update her Bright Journal entry for the day. Then we pick a strip from the jar. Today’s strip was ENJOY A LAZY DAY. We had the BEST DAY too!! We laid in bed and watched movies on the ceiling. Say…

A Case of the Summertime Road Trip Blues for Moms!!
Traveling with children will no doubt make for some lively stories to share at the end of the trip. Grandparents love to hear about their escapades. But when youngsters are confined to a car seat or in a plane seat for more than five minutes, boredom can set in faster than the speed of light. At least if you are in a vehicle, you have an option to stop for a while to give everyone a chance to stretch their legs. Airplanes are another story. If you are able to keep your child – or multiple children – happy and entertained for two hours, you deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. If you achieve the same results on a flight that exceeds five hours, you should be awarded the Hope Diamond. Then you can sell it and buy your own plane to fly you on your next vacation. The sad state of the iPad The time to think about planning for their travel entertainment – as if you had all the resources of Disney World – happened long before the doors were closed and locked. As wonderful as they are, iPads can soon lose their magic. When did you think they…
