Why Apps for Kids Aren’t All Bad, and How to Make Sure It Stays That Way
There’s no denying that using apps can be bad for kids. You can say the same thing about watching TV or playing video games, but just like television and video games, apps don’t have to be bad for kids. Especially since there are many innovative ways apps are changing and will continue to evolve over the upcoming years. Less Stress for Mom and Dad One of the big reasons why apps don’t have to be all bad is the fact that they can allow mom and dad to be better parents. By allowing their children to play on an app for a little bit, they have a chance to relax. Many parents make phone calls, catch up on a little work, or jump in the shower while the kids are on an app. Mom and dad need time too, and allowing the children to play apps for a bit while they get some stuff done makes for a less stressed, happier home, which is definitely good for kids. Harper and the Night Forest By Cerrie Burnell
I am all about NON candy Easter Basket Goodies. Thank you Cerrie Burnell for this adorable book!! The last thing that 6-year-old Alice needs is MORE energy!! Seriously guys I can barely keep up as it is!!! Add sugar?! No! Well, okay maybe just before hand-off to the Momma and Dadda. (Insert evil laugh here!! Maybe a little hand clapping too….. I told you Selena there would be payback for your teen years; especially 13 through 15. Sorry, that’s a whole different post). AS I was saying… I’m looking for Easter Basket items that aren’t candy. One of my very favorites are books. I love giving books. Every holiday. Every bribe. Every chance I get!! Alice is a book lover. She has always adored being red too. Now that she can read (I’m SHOCKED at what an excellent reader she is too!) Alice devours books! I LOVE THAT!!! She reads herself to sleep every-night. AT SIX!!! How cool is that?!!? Now, with The Non’s (that’s me) upcoming move to Idaho we have taken to reading a story at night together via Facetime. First, Alice reads to me, either a school book or a book from her collection, just a chapter, then…
Steffen Jacobsen’s New Thriller “Trophy”
When I was supposed to be packing the house for our move I admit I was often sucked into Steffen Jacobsen’s Trophy. HOLY MOLY!!!! Talked about being hooked from the first page. DANG!! This book is not for the faint of heart. This book is fiction but with the way the world is progressing I’m sure there are some sick and twisted folks that could make the storyline happen. Trophy has the ultra rich stepping up from hunting animals for trophies to hunting people for sport. Wealthy and bored with hunting animals ultimate challenge is people. Trophy is so disturbing. SO addicting. I had to make deals with myself. Pack one box and read two chapters. Soon it was I’ll pack extra tomorrow. Staying up late at night to finish another chapter. It’s THAT good!!! Elizabeth Caspersen-Behncke finds a DVD in her recently deceased father showing a young man being murdered. Watching the DVD Elizabeth begins to believe that her father may have been the one to pull the trigger. So many questions!! WHY would her father have this DVD? Would he actually commit this horrible act? Elizabeth hires Michael Sander a private investigator, security consultant to find the answers.…
