I am here once again to share a public service announcement. This time Valentine gifts NOT to GIVE!! Here we go with my list of Valentine’s Day do NOTS! 1. Forget. OhhhhMgeeee. Getting Ready for Valentine’s Day
If you have a partner or someone you’re interested in and want to make a gesture, chances are you’re planning on celebrating Valentine’s Day this year. This festival celebrated the coming of spring, included fertility rites, and involved the pairing off of women with men by lflottery. Luckily, the tradition changed with time. By the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day, which came to be celebrated as a day of romance from about the 14th century. Nowadays, Valentine’s Day is celebrated on Sunday, February…

Celebrate – Honor – Remember
I hope everyone is enjoying their 3-day holiday. (Mum and Kate I hope you are enjoying your Monday!) We know that Memorial Day means a 3 day weekend, but it’s important to remember the reason behind this American holiday. It’s to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. It unofficially marks the beginning of the summer (although I will need some warm dry weather first before I believe summer is here). Early Observances of Memorial Day The Civil War, which ended in the…
